Dear Namco, I want sued!

Defender is a game in the 60-1 boards??? What's running that thing?

I kind of like his marquee -- it beats the generic "Multi Game" or "MAME" ones that I often see.

I rather liked the cpo myself. It's kinda cool looking I thought. Not saying I'd go grab one tomorrow, but I've never seen that one before. And, yeah, as posted above, the marquee looks decent too. Not like a lot of other crap we've seen.

Those are standard Mamemarquees artwork... Ive built a 60 in 1 with the exact same cpo and marquee, but didnt bother on the full-size sideart, just used a smaller version.

Im just shocked he would use the pacman logo in his advertising

So it doesn't have Defender as a supported game?

If he does, how's he getting it? I didn't think Defender was a 60-1 game.

I doubt it...he just used a marquee that has Defender on it. The 48-1 and 60-1 boards are vertical, Defender is horizontal. I do believe the 19-1 has Defender on it though.

OK Ill bite, how could this possibly turn into a lawsuit? People sell these all the time (many of us are on that list as well), and theres not a single part on that cab made by Namco. All I see is a Midway coin door and what looks to be a recycled Wizard of Wor cabinet, everything else looks new/aftermarket.

And no, the 48's & 60's do not have Defender, the 19-1 does though. Maybe its running an AS board, or MAME?

Namco still protects their Intellectual Properties very tightly. All xx-1's are illegal.

Look at it like this, pretend I was selling cookies and I rent a billboard that has LP's cookies with a big image of Mickey Mouse on it eating a cookie. You are using someones intellectual property to sell your product.
Not to mention the 48 in 1's and 60 in 1's etc are illegal, I doubt someone would come after you for having one in your house but start selling them for profit in a big way and see how fast they would come after you.
They wont come after the guy selling one or two a month out of his garage but if they think you have money they can get, the lawyers would be on it like stink on ...well you know.

Namco has come down hard on business's selling mass quantities of multicades. From the 5 or 6 lawsuits I have read about in the past they usually go after companies that use there logos rather than using the actual games. As strange as that may sound.

Some things that all these lawsuits had in common was:

1- Advertising there arcades as Pac Man/Ms Pac Man/Etc...
2- Setting the machines up for commercial use.
3- Had marquees or side art featuring Pac Man logos.
4- We machines that had MAME software or Multicade boards.

That CPO is really sweet, put one on a multi I built. I know that Namco keeps tight on there stuff but there been a 60 in 1 in a hotel over here for over 2 years....

Can you please provide information on 4 or 5 of those 5 or 6 lawsuits you read about? I ask because I've put probably 5 or 6 hours in to looking for these lawsuits and I was only ever able to find out about 2. The one in Florida (dude was selling illegal multicades as "Namco Reunion" machines and even used reunion artwork), and then a more recent one in Europe, though I've not heard anything new on that front other than they were GOING to sue.

Woah! Gotta love retail shops I guess. A Street Fighter 2 in a data east cab (like mine) but with a miss-matched cpo and Bad dudes bezel for almost $1000????? Holy crap! And their use of Street Fighter Alpha in a Food Fight cab has to be one of the worst conversions I've seen, but they still would sell it cheap for $1295. Damn is this for real? Do people really sell games for this much??????

Two of the lawsuits were in Florida back in 2006. I believe the two parties involved were former operator partners. There were two separate suits but they may of been against the same "business scheme". From that I remember in that particular case close to 20k in assets were seized.

Another one I remember reading about took place in New Jersey where some guy was advertising his machines and Multi-Pacs but it was just a 48-1 board inside the machine. His cabinets were a collage of Pac Man artwork. He had a few successful sales on ebay. (surprised ebay didnt pull them before the purchase was made) He was forced to close his coin-op resale biz and had lie 8k in cash seized. Around the same time I also read about (and I think I even posted the link on klov) about a pawn shop in southern california that was selling multicades but I dont know if they were ever charged with any sort of crime.

Let me do a little web surfing and see if I can find the links.
