Pretty happy with the score I made today!

The board needs a bit of work but everything else is clean!

Looking forward to converting this to something else!

Check it out!

I saw that $100 machine on CL also. I paid way more in getting all of the pieces for my MS kit that wonder if I'll ever build one day.

It's a great game but isn't quite a MUST have to crack my collection hence my having it as a board and all of the pieces for the HS1 kit. You have a drawer style HS2 that seems very clean inside.

Please don't convert this to something else. It looks like an original Magic Sword but I'd have to look at the back side of the CP more as it looks a little odd.

Details please...are these faulty flybacks (ones with white knobs) The screen is really nice, no burn, very bright.

Careful, that K7xxx has white knobs on the fly.

*tick tock*

I have a Magic Sword already and this cab is in much better condition, Maybe I'll make this one my primary and convert my current Magic Sword(The cabinet it is in is banged up and needs work...), your right, maybe i shouldn't convert this one.

Common k7000 issues - common repairs

FLYBACK ISSUES:These monitors have a high flyback failure rate. Theres 2 o.e. flybacks used on these monitors apparently. Both interchange, but i have seen a difference. The older monitors run a flyback with white adjustment knobs. This flyback sucks. The plastic casing will literally fall apart in your hand and they tend to crack alot. If you come across one, REPLACE IT NOW whether the monitor works or not! The other fly is all black. If you see a yellow goo bubbling out of the seams, its bad/going bad. Look it over very well. Find a crack? REPLACE IT! Replacing a cracked fly on a working monitor will save you alot of money in the long run. Black ones also crack but not as often. Some of the replacement flys have been failing too, make sure to double check if you have issues after a repair.

Thank you very much for the heads up! I will definitely change the flyback out, peace of mind is what I need :)

I don't think that's a dedicated cab for Magic Sword. Look at the extra buttons for player-1. And there are no extra buttons for player-2. Usually an Ikari Warriors type game had the setup with 2 sets of buttons for each player. The control panel layout looks like a conversion was done. I'll bet there are some extra holes under the player 2 side that are covered by the overlay.

If you're going to convert that one or the other cab, I have a few cut-corner kits I'm going to be selling soon.

Correct, It's definitely not a dedicated cab for a magic sword..., I popped open the control panel and the bottom of the CP is like swiss cheese with button holes. Pretty Odd how the buttons are layed out so I'm not sure what this was originally. Another sign is the Atari sticker on the back of the cabinet :)

I was thinking about converting this to a Street Fighter 2 arcade. Do you have any 6 button CP's? If so, PM me...thanks!

I don't think Magic Sword came in a dedicated cab. Like most of the CPS JAMMA games of the era, they came as a conversion kit to be installed in whatever cab the OP felt was necessary to convert at the time. Several companies manufactured empty cabs for this purpose - Data East, Dynamo, and Grand Products, Inc to name a few.

the bottom of the CP is like swiss cheese with button holes.

That's the way it SHOULD be. The Dynamo control panels came precut from the factory that way to allow for flexibility in whatever game layout you wanted to install. All of my Dynamo cabs look like this on the bottom. There were 3 different styles of corner cut control panels that I know of. I'd really like it if someone would take on the project of custom cutting panels for these cabs because I have a few that are hacked up pretty bad.

Another sign is the Atari sticker on the back of the cabinet :)

Doesn't mean anything. Lots of the conversion kits came with a serial sticker to apply to the cab. It just means that the cab housed an Atari game in its previous life before Magic Sword.

That cab's CP should support a 6 button layout, if you wanted to use it. If you're asking if there are any spare Dynamo corner cut control panels floating around out there to buy, well, frankly, good luck. The last one I saw was over a year ago:

And I missed out on them.

I should really get in touch with a metal fab place to see what it would cost to get some of these reproduced.

I might be able to find someone that can make these Dynamo corner cut control panels...Let me make a few phone calls.

The one I have in my cab looks exactly like this:

The one I will need to convert this to a Street fighter is this one:

This is great to know...thanks for all the info!

Yeah, the other CP styles I know of are a 3 button seen on the right of this pic:

And an ambidextrous single player one, like the R-Type II cab I sold for a friend a while back:

Had I known how rare that ambidextrous panel was, I would have pulled it and swapped it with a normal 2 player one. *dammit*
