the Polo I mentioned on here about 2 weeks ago worked wonderfully until Friday night, I pulled the chassis and checked the HOT (in circuit, Fromm flowchart says to ground black probe to frame and touch the collector with red) and as far as I can tell it went pop.

so I said no problem, I'll take the other reserve Polo I had and throw it in and the same thing happened!

the yoke readings I pulled a couple weeks ago were kinda out of spec from what most sites say, is there a chance my yoke shorted, namely on the horizontal winding, and that's what's popping these HOTs? if so, that sucks, that tube was fucking nice.

gah

been checking other forums for similar issues, one of the guys said something about a "buggered up tube", I'm guessing they do in fact mean something yoke-related.

I bought up a few HOTs, I guess I can try out my other tube. or I can check to see if both chassis power up on that other tube. leaning towards the HOTs being blown on both. what the fuck, how does that just suddenly happen? bitch of it is the bad tube was MINT looking and the other one never looked anywhere near as good. god damnit.

Lame couldn't you just swap yokes? I just finished rebuilding one but I'm not all that confident it will live again after reading all these threads.

I have 3 polo chassis that i am currently working on... one of which keeps blowing HOTs for some strange reason.

Im starting to lean towards it being leaky / bad HV polypropylene capacitors.

Your situation is strange, being that you put in a known working chassis.

You need to eliminate the yoke.

yokes are bonded on these, so... that sucks. lol

bitch of it is that I have a 3rd Polo, that Chad's even worked on, that mated to that second tube, and no matter how many times I had it fixed before (3 times now) it would do the same thing.. it'd work for awhile, and then the HOT just blows.

bigger bitch of it is that my KI2 monitor ran excellent for 2 years before the T101 blew on it. (this is what caused the fuse to keep blowing)
