So I know very little about VGA monitors. Have one in a Megatouch that died when the power supply quit working. I just fixed the power supply so that end of things is good. The monitor is still dead and is making a ticking/beeping noise. I can't tell where it comes from.

Is there a reset somewhere on the over voltage? Or is there a chip that I need to replace?

thanks

it's most likely a Tatung monitor in there. I had one do the same thing and just had to recap and change the HOT. I had another with a bad flyback, but it didn't tick...

Merit used some 50 different makes and models of monitors in the Megatouch series. You're gonna need to actually pull the monitor out of the cabinet to correctly identify it.

My experience with all the monitors I have encountered in Megatouch games have been they need capacitors very badly and sometimes have had shorted vertical output IC's.

So it is a Tatung VGA EC9377-08 monitor.

Anyone out there have schematics for it or a list of caps? and whatever else I need to replace?

It's one of these schematics:

The EC9387-01 (C5GNE/C5GNEKC) is one I'm working on right now. I've got part of a repair guide I've started to write on this model. This is a very complex monitor and I'm having difficulty getting this one going. Be very careful when you unbolt the monitor main circuit board from the frame----it will crack under it's own weight! I've found so far 6 bad electrolytic caps on the main board and 4 bad ones on the neck board. BTW, the EC9387-01 is Merit's model number they assigned to the monitor and is not Tatung's model number.

So on these monitors where do I find the Hot?

Ken... Do you fix these things? If so how expensive is it? I've never had good luck with VGA monitors.

It's a large 3-legged transistor usually mounted to the side wall or a metal heat sink near the flyback. You can run the datasheet on the part number to verify it's the horizontal output transistor...

ok got it... so for the cap kit should I just go through the entire board and relplace every cap (well the little round ones (technical term escaping me at the moment))

All the electrolytic caps that have polarity markings (stripe on one side)...

Edit - except for the filter cap (great big one with a huge voltage value)...

just curious is that using the mrcft-252 flyback or a mrcft varriant?
