This thing is dead as a doornail... I plug it in, pull out the interlock switch and get nothing. No monitor power, no noises, hum, etc. I even tested for 120V at the utility outlet and get nothing there. What gives? I should at least be getting that even if everything else in the game is bad shouldn't I? I get good continuity testing the lugs on the fuse above the utility outlet so that is good.

Check for continuity in the power line. You may have a broken wire or a bad connection in the plug. The utility outlet is wired in parallel with the power plug so if it is dead, I would check the power cord.

Just check AC in the outlet there. if it is there, then the power cord is fine. If not, then it isn't. That outlet is hot anytime the game is plugged in, regardless of a power switch, etc...

Saw you already tested the outlet. Either you have a bad cord or no power at the place you have the cab plugged into...

After testing continuity from plug to fuse block and line filter it looks like the power cord is bad. The cabinet is missing its leg levelers and the cord must have been caught underneath at one point as it has nice gash.

Thanks for the advice gents. I'll replace the cord tomorrow and see what I get.

I replaced the cord and the cabinet powers up with scrolling horizontal lines on the monitor. I checked voltages at the 4116 RAMs and the +5V and +12V are low. I pulled the power connector going to the CPU and tested there and the voltage seems good. I plug the power connector back in and test voltage at the header pins on the solder side and the voltages are low again. I replaced the header pins and connector but get the same thing.

I pulled the boardset (CPU, ROM, and I/O PCBs) and plug them into my Stargate and the game plays fine.

Any suggestions...

Try putting the power supply from your stargate into the defender and see if it works...
