I will be getting a DE Star Wars pin in about two weeks. In the meantime I wanted to get opinions on custom LEDs to the machine. I have had this pin before and on that machine I ordered the complete LED kit from Marcospec. I was very pleased with how it turned out...but I remember wanting to add different colors to the GI areas. I have done a little research and videos and see that a lot of people have added blue around the R2 area, Green around the Death Star trough entrance. Has anyone done anything different that really makes the machine pop? I would like to add possibly blue around the slingshot and flipper area, has anyone done this? Look good? Also has anyone added blue flashers around the entire machine instead of the standard white? Are the cointaker.com LED's better? I want to get a kit..but with the custom LED's I want to place...can I custom make the kit if I ask? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Ok...different question, who sells the better kit? Cointaker or Marco? I had the Marco kit in my first SW, and I was happy with it, but didn't know any better. Now that I know about cointaker, just wondering who is better? tHanks

I dont think kits are necessary. They seem more expensive and limit your options.

My opinion is buy lots of bulbs in bulk and then experiment!

I just recently finished a full shop on mine. I held off on the LEDs for now (since I sunk wayyy too much money into a yellow NOS bar target...). I did however stick some blue #47's in the upper right and left GI which looks good. I also put a purple LED under the death star which gives it sort of a cool ominous glow. With one LED there it's not overbearing or distracting. I also stuck a color changer LED under the playfield where Luke and Darth's lightsabers meet, and that gives a cool effect.

Sweet....

....Thanks for the link :)

I've been curious on this topic myself, wondering what I should do to my SW DE pin.

@ vader1979 - Show what you decided to go with, okay?

I'm also curious what mods (if any) have been done by others - anything others care to post here?

Not as much pin traffic here as pinside.

Theres a similear thread there.

I agree with buying them individually instead of a kit, leaves you spares to play with and experiment with, usually still for less.

With the new code update, i havnt even taken it down to change a few bad light sockets since i just wanted to play it. Not really any mods done on my end.

I do have a nice one planned for the Frankenstein that I just picked up though...

I ended up selling my star wars already. Getting the re-release of tron.legacy pin. Played it down in Disney world and absolutely love it. Star wars had more issues than I wanted to deal with at the moment...plus I had opportunity to get a NIB machine for a very decent price.
