The center ramp on the DE SW must really be made from cheap metal. The one on the machine I'm getting looks like it was repaired seveal times. I spoke with a person at Marco and they sell sheets of metal. I'm pretty sure if I took the original to a fabrication shop..it could be done. Has anyone ever had a ramp made from scratch?

How bad is it? A good welder should be able to repair it, but then you are going to need to do some work to get it looking nice. It will be much easier and more cost effective to fix what you have unless it is absolutely beat to death. Here is mine after repair and after I got done working on the weld:

You can't see the repair, it is hidden by the plastics next to the Death Star.

I also had the first support bracket welded, you can see it in the second picture above. However it later broke again. So I installed a post as seen below. It is above the post at the ramp entrance and it is at the very right edge of the end of the ramp. This post keeps shots from the left flipper from bending the ramp and will prevent further cracking and damage.

Looks like a not too good repair...

I have a ramp in better shape than yours I would sell , the one I have looks like Stangbat's it was cracked but has been repaired and you can hardly tell any work has been done to it, PM if you are interested.

That does look bad. However, a good welder could probably save it. Some work with Barkeeper's Friend, a file, and some sandpaper would have it looking a lot better. Probably better than you'd ever imagine. The rust and discoloration will all pretty much disappear. And you really don't see much of this ramp other than the entrance.

That being said, the welder will be cussing the ramp. Mine was TIG welded by a guy that knows his stuff and it was a little frustrating for him. It is cheap metal and thin. Not easy to work on.

I guess it is a question of what you think is the best bang for the buck.

how much?

Don't get me wrong Altan has repaired it some since that pic but I would buy a replacement if I can.

I agree, cheap.

The one I restored had cracked tabs like that, only one on each side, so I left it alone.

Would there be any interest from owners for a quality replacement? I'm going to look into having mine reproduced..just with better materials. Maybe if there is enough interest I can get several done thereby reducing the costs for all. What do you guys think?

All depends on how much, 125.00 + / Each probably not.
