So I'm working on a DE Simpsons and having trouble with the flipper mechs.

Currently the game has these installed.

They are hacked beyond belief (including re-weld work) and are completly destroyed. When I try to order based off the manual I get coils that have three lugs which would not be correct for the game.

Which coils and flipper mechs are the correct ones for this game?

thanks

I havn't ordered anything yet. Just been sourcing parts and prices.

At this point I can find all the DE parts but that will run almost $200 for the pair.

I didn't know you could swap in Williams flippers becasue the DE has a specific solid state flipper board that mounts in the cab. The voltages are totally wierd to the flippers as it dosen't rely on the EOS but uses a circut to pulse the high voltage for the flip and then drops to a lower voltage to hold the flipper in the up position if needed

1. There are no end of stroke switches.
2. The flipper coils should have 3 lugs. Looks like someone has cut the 3rd lug on each of those coils... which defies logic.

Data East used a solid state flipper board that used current control to pull in then hold then flipper instead of using two windings in the coil. The pull in circuit runs at a fixed pulse when the flipper is actuated instead of relying on an EOS switch.

My suggestion to you is to retro fit WPC style mechs from pinball life. That's going to be your cheapest option at this point. Sourcing the data east parts is going to be far more expensive.

Generally not practical to do with DE due to the very different control schemes. Might be able to use WPC mechanicals with DE 2-lug coils or just wire the WPC coils on the pull-in/high power side, but I've never tried.

As far as what you got there, Marco has rebuilt kits for DE, the kit services both EOS and non-EOS types so they will look a little different but they are correct. The kit will have bushings, stops, sleeves, plunger and pawls, looks like it's %90 of what you need. If the base plate weld repair is solid, why replace them?

The two lug coil is the correct one for the DE Simpsons - I just checked mine to make sure.
That weld looks solid but if you are looking for a replacement plate or more let me know as I have some extra used DE flipper parts from another project I'm working on.

There I go making assumptions. Probably should have checked first because I actually own that game. haha

Disregard everything I've said. Sometimes I get to be a dumbass and post without thinking too :)

I'm only thinking of replacment plates becasue I don't trust the work that has been done on the game.

Out of all the fuses 6 of them had wires soldered to to bypass the fuse. The PPC board had a hack where one of the xistors had a leg bent, wired thru a diode and into the hole where a resistor should have been. One molex has a wire cut and soldered straight to a fuse...

Scary project. but worth what I paid for it.

I'd be interested in those used base plates if you have them.

Could someone take a picture of a good DE Simpsons flipper assembly for me?
