I know it's a long shot but I'm willing to pay someone for the file if they have it. I have no clue on how to do this or I would. Again, I'd gladly pay someone for their hard work that they've done. One side of my backbox is messed up and I'd like it to look presentable, I've tried tracing it to stencil it and came to the conclusion that it would not look as good as vinyl would. All I need is the backbox side scan in vector or photoshop..

If you have it please P.M. me..

Thanks,
D.

If one of your sides is good, why not scan it yourself, then reverse the image?

Because I don't have the scanner or knowhow to do this. I've attempted several times to use contact paper and cut out the image, from the good side. I can tell it's going to look half assed and I'd rather have the messed up side untouched/burnt than some half assed, looks like a 3rd grader painted it..

If I knew how, I would do it.. Thats why I offered to compensate someone thats already been through this and has done it. If these corporations would take off their ass hats and let companies reproduce the artwork I'd gladly go to a vendors site and purchase the decals. However, this is not the case and don't have the knowledge to do my own.

There was someone at the pinball expo in chicago that had custom sideart for GnR. He also had a dismantled cabinet that he said he was scanning to reproduce the original artwork. I can't remember his name/business, but maybe another member that was there would.

Sideart for pins has been reproduced, but it comes down to demand. The demand for GnR art evidently isn't all that great.

That artwork was probably either silkscreened directly on the panels, which already had the vinyl applied or on decals. No way to really go about that with stencils. Good luck. You will need to scan the sides.

Guess I'll need to take this one step at a time and try to figure out how to do this.Hope the forum does not mind inquiring questions..

Upon further investigations, someone else has inquired needing the backbox art also. Here's my thought process on this:

1) Acquiring and scanning the good side of the backbox art. What's the consensus on the best scanner to be used? Bang for the buck....

2) Once I scan the art, which program to stitch it together? I'm under the assumption that if I have no luck stitching it, I could always find someone local that can do it.

3) Best source of printing companies that do this?

Keep in mind, If i'm taking this on I'm NOT planning on the end result being half assed...

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Well, a regular flatbed scanner can work:

Once you get the scans, you can always upload them to a photo-sharing site like Photobucket or Flickr and ask people here to help stitch and vectorize.

The quality of print will depend on the quality of the final vectorized file. if you get a good file, you'll get a good print.

Having it printed locally may be a problem, though. With the Guns'n'Roses and Data East logos on it, print shops may not print it due to copyright concerns. You'll most likely need to have someone like www.GameOnGrafix.com or www.ThisOldGame.com print it for you...
