That is freakin awesome. If anyone decides they would like to play. add me to your list (PSN ID: NERDtendo). Just be warned, it takes 18 GB of hard drive space to download the game. It is a lot of fun though. I got in on the BETA and it was great. Super Hero MMORPG!!!

Did they take away any trophies when this went free to play?

The game will have three levels of access:

•Free Access – Just like it sounds. Download and play the game for free. You also get all ongoing game updates (except DLC packs).

•Premium Access – This next level of access opens up to you if you spend at least $5 in the in-game store. Premium Access grants you additional benefits that improve your experience in the game, such as more inventory slots, more character slots, bank slots and more free Vault tickets. So all you have to do is pick up some cool items in the store or buy a DLC pack and you unlock Premium Access. The best part? Once you unlock Premium Access you keep it for the life of your account.

•Legendary Access – With Legendary Access you can unlock the maximum level of features and benefits. To unlock Legendary Access you can pay for a $14.99 per month game pass, or save big with a discounted multi-month pass. Lifetime members are automatically granted Legendary access. Legendary Access also includes all DLC packs at no extra charge

I have been looking forward to checking this out. How long did it take to download?

Very long time. Start the download and install before bed and it will still be going into the next day.

So these trophies are attainable even if I only go for the free access account?

Sources online say yes but these are player sources not game dveloper and SONY sources. I guess we will have to try and see. I am going to try getting it downloaded tonight and through tomorrow. If I can get on before Sunday, I will let everyone know if I got any trophies or if they are locked in Free-To-Play version.

looks like its also free to play on PC. Im downloading now. My ps3 doesn't go online.

Do the PS3 and PC versions interact at all?

It was rumored (by the developers) prior to the release date that there may be cross-platform playability, but I believe that was squashed.

Downloaded it last night. I did what you said. Install it and let it download over night. Hopefully I get a chance to play it tonight after work.

I made a character (Captain Discharge lol) but he kinda sucks so I might start over. I only played for like 10 minutes before work this morning.

It took a little over 8 hours for it to install on my system. That's not including the 45 minutes to download the game and updates from PSN. So in case anyone is wanting to know. Give it about 9 hours or so to be fully downloaded and installed.

Also, from booting up the game and looking in my trophy menu it does not appear that they are locked from the Free-To-Play classic game users like the DLC trophies. I have not started playing yet but these are just first observations. I won't be back on this site after today for two weeks so someone else will have to update this thread about if the trophies are actually attainable. If they are, this will be the first FREE TO EVERYONE PlayStation 3 game that has a Platinum Trophy. That would be pretty cool!

wow the login process is jacked. I tried signing in after about 2pm today and I was "3500" in queue.

Just to start the damn game.

Wowzers. Glad it's free!

edit: welp, now I can't log in at all. The button just immediately goes back to the green "connect" button.

REALLY glad I didn't pay for this, lol.

I hear ya. The game is fun when you can get logged in. I just waited about a 1/2 hour to log in and once the que got to 0 it said I must launch the game from the lauch pad. you must be signed into your PSN account and connected to the online network to play.

I hate having to start the que over again lol

I'm eying this game myself but would be playing on a PC.

Here's an interesting article that kicked up when I googled the game:

Things are not looking too good for the rebirth of DC Universe Online. What started out as an effort to increase revenue by making the game free-to-play has become an effort to just keep the game running. SOE's megaservers for DCUO have been suffering from major problems since the free-to-play initiative began. Over the past few days, PC and PS3 players in the United States and Europe have been unable to continuously play DCUO without encountering critical issues. If SOE was hoping to make a good first impression with DCUO, it has failed.

DCUO needs new players. If the game was making enough money, it wouldn't be free in the first place. $15 a month from the dedicated Legendary members is not enough to keep this game afloat. SOE needs free players to conduct those $1, $4 and $5 transactions for as long as possible. If those free players come into the game with a bad experience, many of them will not return. They'll leave DCUO and take their money with them.

It takes forever to download and install. I started the process before I went to bed when I got it and it wasn't done when I got up the next morning.

I haven't played in a long time. I haven't played my PS3 too much actually. I need to get back into it. I think I will be getting Battlefield 4 so I gotta get back into playing BF3 to get ready.
