I'm having an issue with my Daytona USA...kinda hard to explain. It makes the game unplayable as the video shakes all over the place. Now it doesn't look like a monitor issue as the foreground stuff stays put. It happens during attract mode and it terrible durning game play. Now when the 'Daytona USA' banner comes across the screen it the game looks perfectly fine

Hopefully this video will embbed properly.

Anyone point me in a direction to start?

Thanks!!

I recently fixed my daytona that was doing the same thing. On the CPU board, locate component 'PC62'. With the game powered off, use something to jump over the component like a jumper wire or even a pair of tweezers etc and hold it there for 20 seconds. Power it up after and it hopefully it will be working for you. All 4 of my V.R. views work now.

any graphical glitches I ever had with our Daytona twin were caused by the power supplies.

make sure that you're getting sufficient +5 to the boards. Sega's wiring colors are a little different. yellow is +5, red is +12, and white is Ground. there's a little board that the power supply plugs into that then goes to the filter board on the board cage.

if you have one of the original Peter Chou units inside, you should probably entertain replacing them.

No luck on jumping 'PC62'. Gonna go after the power supply next. Are they still available?

I DLed the manual from Sega for the game but no schematics...any idea where to get them?

you won't need schematics.

I've replaced the original units with the 200W Happ PowerPro. you have to splice the wiring yourself but that's not difficult to do. just have to remember the weird Sega color coding.

First of all, before doing anything unecessary, try to diagnose the problem. Get a multimeter, and measure voltage on the 5v line going to the cage. Power up the game and measure voltage between a yellow and white wire, on the inside of the filter board, where a connector meets. You will need to open the cage to do that.

The 5V lines are all spliced from the power supply on a distribution bar located on the right side of the cab, just up of the power supply. Those bars are often pretty rusted, causing a good voltage drop. After measuring the voltage, make SURE you do NOT have MORE thant 5.25v and NOT LESS than 5.10v. The boards start overheating a 5.25v.

Usually, a perfectly working daytona will fail to boot if the tension is below 5.0Xv and display the "BACKUP RAM ACCESS ERROR" message.

thanks for the tip on the power board rusting. maybe something I'll check out on a rainy day.
