Under the seat in the master there is a huge box with circuit boards in it. The slave doesn't have that box at all, the wiring is there for it.

1. Does the slave need that big box with the circuit boards in it? or does it feed off of the master?

2. I have a red optic cable and a black optic cable. Which one is TX and which one is RX?

what kind of box? any photos?

if they were main pcb box, they should have one each. there is no such one pcb feeding two player.

for daytona twin link cable (optic cable), here is how you determine which cable plug to where. put both player in test mode. now, see both optic cable, which one is lit bright, put that into socket that not lit (off one), meanwhile the other one (not lit) put that into socket that lit. that's it, put out into game mode, and wait for link.

Yeah.. both my Daytonas have the same hardware in them minus the power cord (at least the board are the same).

I'm assuming you mean the approx 14" x 24" galvanized looking box that houses the main PCB?

If that's the case it sound like you missing the main board set which are pretty expensive. I tried buying one when I had a glitch with mine and people were asking $350+...which was darn near what I paid for the whole game. I ended up sending it to Ken at Sega and he fix it for $100

Can ya snap I pic? I won't be home till tomorrow night but I can take a picture of my stuff then if you still need it

I will take a pic or two. The box is huge and galvanized looking.

Next question: How do I get the bezel off so that I can clean the monitor? The manual is pretty worthless from what I can tell.

Fiber is pretty forgiving. It only carries a signal in one direction, from Tx (transmit) to Rx (receive) and that is why it is always in pairs. The direction of signal travel is irrevelant to the fiber so you can connect the wires in either port; so as long as you connect transmit to receive (and everything is clean) your signal will get through. The only problem with connecting it backwards is it will not function, no damage will be caused.

I am not even sure if I have all of the cables.

You should only need two. Data can be streamed over fiber at a scary fast rate, much faster than any arcade processors can handle. If more cabs can be linked in then you may need additional cables for them, but I think this is a two cab only game. If you find you need additional cables, or you suspect that there is a problem with the cables you have, let me know and I can build you more and/or test what you have.

You might need to take a look at it, because I am not sure exactly what I have here. These two cables terminate at the coin box with what looks like jack ends. I don't know if the slave has the same setup or if the cables come out of the slave and plug right into the jacks on the master coin box.

From a quick look at the manual it looks like up to eight can be linked. I don't see any data on how to link them but they are most likely daisy chained together, since that is the only way the light data will work. I can take a look at it, I may be heading over to Snohomish on Saturday so I will be out your way if that works for you.

should work fine. the documentation on these things really suck bad.

The cable you are talking about are just standard optical cable (for the network I'm assuming). I do believe you can purchase them and best buy and such.

What I got my daytona I had to completely dissemble them to get them in me basement . From what I remember to get to the tube form the front you need to removed the security torxes from the outside of the cab that hold the 2 'screens' n the sides. There are 2 supporting angel pieces on the top and bottom that hold in the plexi..those need to come out

I also think you may need to loosen the complete steering assembly and pull it forward to get the plexi out. I think there were 6 larger security torxes..then just slide the assembly forward a bit. But I'm not overly sure you need to do this..I completely removed the monitors to move the games

When I get mine I did not get to take them apart thus I was on a little treasure hunt to figure out the networking. I did notice there were 'connections' for the optical cable in the back of the coin door. I did not use those...I simply connected the optical directly (there should be 2) from one machine to the other.

I may have some wiring and know I have 2 complete control panels if you need some parts. I got a third cab with my deal that I stripped..i did save most of the harnesses

i had the same problem trying to hook up my daytona twins.....with the fiber optic cables if you have just 2 cabinets, then red goes to black and black goes to red.......(if that makes sense) do not try to match the colors up.....

i think if you have more than 2 cabinets then the cord goes from 1 to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 4, 4 to 5 and then 5 (the last one) would link back to 1.

theres other threads on this but the manuals tell you basically NOTHING....i wasted an entire night online trying to find this same info out!!!

like i said, take red to black and black to red. that worked for me and i was racing in no time!!! good luck!
