I have a Daytona USA and the start button is not working. Now the button is not a single microswitch it is part of a strip that has the VR buttons with it as well.

I have replaced the button strip with a known tested working one - the issue is not with the physical button.

My guess is that it is in the wiring harness somewhere.

Has anyone seen this before?
If it is the wiring harness is there a sub-harness that moves from the head down? I have not found a great schematic I can see clearly.

(I will completely disassemble one of the head units this weekend - just wanted to ask to see if someone had seen this before)

If you want to follow up the wiring, the color of start button is pink-white. You can download a good wiring diagram from sauservice.com, usually should be filter connection, try to clean the pins with cleaning spray and plug it on back first.

If I read this correctly it could also be a problem with "837-10539 I/O BD Daytona" - I also know that I have a working one of those I may be able to change out.....

Yes, that pcb is where start input is connected, so it´s possible that it would be responsilbe of the problem, but mainly the problems in that pcb reffers to another simptom, that´s why I think your problem should be an open connection in the pink-white cable line. Although you could satrt changing the I/O pcb if you have on hand and see what happens..

I think you are most likely right, but for some reason I have a hard time believing it would be a short in that line since everything else works as far as I can tell.
(I am also reasonably convinced that I believe this because I do not feel like tracing down 50 feet of wire to find a short.)

If I replace the board and it still does not work - I will try running a new wire for just that one as a temp to see.....
