got a pair of linked Daytona USA sitdown twins at my family's arcade that every 3 months or so will start to tweak out with garbage on one screen, and I guess cause they're linked it messes the other one up too.

I've replaced both power supplies on these, as I used to have even more problems prior to changing them out, but my first plan of attack when this problem comes up now is to press down on the roms and on each board about 7 or 8 chips will actually make the cruuuuuunch sound. :)

I guess the question is are these games more succeptible to chip creep from all the little mutant kids jumping in and out of the seats all the time and creating so much shock, or am I looking at having to pop every chip out and clean the legs? (probably should do this anyway, but my bandaid seems to be working fine for now and I got gobs of other shit to do all the time, by myself)

it's worth noting that I've broken down both boardsets and cleaned them already, and I cover the cage with a piece of posterboard between the 2 floor panels so garbage (how??) and dust/dirt doesn't get in anymore.

Cheap sockets will allow the chips to work their way out thanks to heating/cooling cycles as the games are used then powered off.

Apple had a HUGE problem with that in the Apple III computer. They used to tell people to lift the computer off the desk a couple of inches and let it drop. Seriously... they did.

:p

gotta figure these Daytonas have taken a pounding the last 15 years. monitors look like they're friggin new still though, people we bought the games from have a love affair for Happ Vision Pros, I don't think they were smart enough to buy Nanaos. shit, our SW Ep 1 pinball, just cause the computer head has a VGA port, they went and bought a Vision Pro U3000 knockoff.

I have some redemption games that will just randomly freeze sometimes. I think we just have dirty power sometimes.

I guess there's not much further to explore on this topic other than the obvious, and I ain't going and replacing the sockets.
