Hi all.

One of my Daytona's has decided it will refuse to link. Through process of elimination I have narrowed the fault down to one of the game board stacks.

The optical interface board that plugs in to the board stack at three locations is fine as I have swapped it over between cabs and the issue remained on the same machine, meaning both of those boards are fine.

The 4 board stack has it's own optical output and inputs which are plugged up by a dust cap.

Is it ok to use these on Daytona or will this not work at all for getting the link to work? Of course the obvious answer is it will not work as why would they have the optical interface board then, but you never know.

I am also thinking this board is common to Model 2 games and whilst some of those games may use the on board optical ports, Daytona probably does not.

Anyway, I am guessing it is safe to try anyhow right? I can connect the relevant input/output optical cables to the plugged up receptacles on the game board stack without fear of blowing stuff up?

Should be safe to try the on-board ports, but try this first. Take one single optical cable and plug each end into the upper and lower optical holes on the filter board/pcb cage, set the machine as master and it should loop back and link to itself. If it doesn't link then you know the board is bad, or you have a bad cable?
