Hello,

I've picked up a Daytona USA twin in rough shape. One side starts ok (set in freeplay mode) but the volume has to be set to the max. It is way way too loud. The coin box wasn't included and I think that's where the service button and volume control would be. What are the buttons for on the I/O board? Are they redundant buttons for service mode, etc? Is there a pinout for the coinbox mechanism? I can see an unused molex in the back of the machine.

Thanks!

I had a Super GT that was missing the wiring in the coin box, and had the same ridiculously loud sound... so I'd agree that the missing volume pots is probably the reason for that. It looks like there are a few different manuals out there for Daytona, and it looks like some of them have wiring diagrams, which should have what you need.

For example, pg. 180 of this one: https://www.gamesdatabase.org/Media/SYSTEM/Arcade/Manual/formated/Daytona_USA_-_1993_-_Sega.pdf looks to have a pretty good wiring diagram. That looks to be the manual for the massive multi setup, but maybe the coin boxes are the same. Or, maybe check this wiring diagram: http://backup.segakore.fr/sauservice/Manuals/Daytona folder/DThtml/DTwdlwr-lt.html . Otherwise, dig through some of the other manual scans and see if you can find the appropriate wiring diagram.

That is super helpful, thank you. It looks like it's just two pots and two buttons. That huge set up must have been amazing! Never knew Daytona had a pneumatic seat option. Having to have someone manning the emergency stop would have probably been a deal breaker for most places surely.

Box in a twin had individual pots and test / service for each side. Seems you have it figured out now.
Note only the Daytona Specials like you would have seen in D&B locations had air and it was solely to seats. Highly over rated function easily bypassed.
