This is my first arcade & i have no experience with the technical stuff...

Ok when im playing the sound effects seems to be overpowering the music. Is there a way to turn down the sound effects only or way to turn up the music volume?

looks for your knobs ,some games have a left and right channel that you can adjust and each channel play something different

Where are the knobs located at?

Are you talking about the volume control in the coin mech? I believe i can adjust the volume for the front & rear...i think the music is coming from the rear but you can barely hear it, the engine sound just over powers it. So is there knobs in the PCB to adjust?

check your wiring going to the main PCB cage, make sure no connectors are halfway sticking out or anything.

then, look for the sound board, it's the one that's got like RCA audio jacks on it, make sure all those connections are good.

then follow the RCA wires to the amplifier boards, I think there's 1 or 2, I get this one and Daytona 2 mixed up, make sure all connections are good there too.

I think it's commonplace for if the speakers are blown, it can blow out the ICs on the amp boards, and that might contribute to the problem you have.

it's very easy to plug the connectors going to the main board in wrong as well, there's no seat speakers on this game like Daytona 2 though, you really shouldn't have any problems with the engine sounds overpowering the music on this one UNLESS you have another potential problem..

if you have a sitdown unit (you didn't specify, so I don't know :)) it's very easy for dirt and crud to form on the various boards underneath, and I actually broke a ROM socket on a sound board trying to press the ROMs on the sound board down (it forced some like wood chip fragments or something in the socket) and I had to go through a major ordeal to replace it, but I fixed it.

if any of your sound ROMs did some "chip creep" it could contribute to this, best way to make sure is to go in the Sound Test and play EVERY sound sample and song and if any of them come out sounding garbled or don't play at all, it's more than likely a ROM issue.

if that's the case, PM me, I can help you try some other things.

my family operates a game room with a Daytona Twin, and I've done my share of maintenance and cleaning to keep that thing running and to de-rig what the assholes that had the game before us did to it.

oh my god, I read the thread title wrong, it IS a Daytona 2.

well, same things apply, this is actually a problem I have on our Daytona 2, and I can't figure out why. I thought it was cause I had Daytona 1 speakers (got em from that Arcade Boneyard guy to replace the ones that WERE blown, and one of the ICs had a hole in it because the old ops never paid attention to it)

another problem I have is with the subwoofer being too weak, you have to like crank the rear speaker volume and shatter your eardrums to get any sub feedback, which was a stupid design on Sega's part, cause all of their other games with subs had separate volume pots for them.

I can't remember if there was a master volume setting in the test mode or not. haven't had to tinker with Daytona 2 for a long time.

another helpful tip, make sure your 3.3V setting on the power supply is in fact 3.30V, or the game will probably lock up a lot. :)

if you need any help or have questions, feel free to ask.

Everything sounds good when i do the sound test. Music pays great, even works great when its in attract mode. Its only when i play the game. It seems like the engine noise is a lot louder then it should be while the music get way turned down.

So i turn down the knobs for both & now i realize that the front sound is coming from the rear...So im guessing somehow it got switch. Where do i go to switch this cable from?

well, considering in the other thread you nearly burned your house down or something, maybe this is moot, but if you look down at the PCB cage, it's on the left side on the back filter board that there are two 4 pin connectors (if I recall) that are the audio out feeds. like I said before, look for a sound board with RCA jacks on it, follow your cables from that going to the main PCB... that'll be your audio. either flip the output feeds on the main PCB or likewise flip the audio cables going to the sound board. I can't tell you which ones are supposed to go where. :(
