Daytona Re-release: Sega Racing Classic

I played it at Gameworks in Shaumburg in October of 2009. Must a been a test location b/c I think it just came out. Its cool, the LCD is big. I got a twin Daytona myself and compaired to that Claasic is a big screen in your face, but thats how all the new stuff is going. Sound has been improved too, thought it had a big sub. This is one of those games that still makes money-most Dave n Busters have the old one still. Reminds me of namco's pacman/galaga idea. Hope it does well for them.

Looks cool.... if you don't mind paying 5 gazilliion dollars for a 18 year old game.

Spend 1500 at Niemann Displays and Crutchfield, revamp the old one, and you'll have the same effect.

I noticed it's not called Daytona, and the screenshots don't say Daytona, so I guess they didn't license the Daytona name this time?? Might be the same fun game, but isn't that kinda like Pac-man WITHOUT Pac-man?? Plus... the attract song was classic!!

Higher res? So apparently it is a reprogram of the original? PC based I'd guess?

I'm not saying I won't like it, I love re-issues of classic games as a matter of principle. And honestly, just about all the newer racers do nothing for me. Daytona is still better in my opinion, than most new racers.

I'm not judging the price, sure, it's expensive because it's brand new. If people like to play the game, operators need a way to get a new reliable version of the game. Original Daytonas are trashed 95% of the time!!

I like Daytona. And I think the only reason it's still making money is because D&B won't upgrade to anything else that has 8 player connectivity. They had outrun 2. It got no love because it was never connected for heads up. In my area, I think people are tired of that daytona. I think mario cart is getting more attention.
