Ok...kinda a newbie here. I read a couple threads about linked Daytonas and could quite find my answer.

I bought a matching pair and they were delivered so I did not disassemble them. I connected the obvious stuff through the coin box and got the machines to boot..one says master..one says slave (no..they did not talk to me..I read it on the screen =0)).

Each machine is 'saying' 'looking for networking' and goes no further. Now the left machine has 2 optical cables and the right machine only one. Are the supposed to be 2 optical cables on each machine? It looks like there is a spot on the back of the coin box to plug an optical cable in for each side..but inside the box doesn't seem to go anywhere. Is this some sort of termination?

Also is there a way to boot to the game if the network fails?

Thanks in advance!

each machine should have 2 fiber optic cable outs.

the optic outlet should be at the bottom back.

now before you plug /make pair of which cables should goes where, you can do this by pressing test button of both machine. now, after the screen make into test menu, one of optic cables of each machine should be lit in red. pair them in cross (the lit one pair with not lit). after that, exit test menu (both of them).

if all is okay, then they will linked.

you can operate each of them in slave configuration (can be changed via test menu), if network are fail.

Thanks..
It looks like I have a busted cable..

I'm assuming these cable plug into the PCB somewhere?

On a side note how the heck to ya get to the PCB...looks like I have to take half the game a part

the one in the back bottom were optic sockets, it usually have another optic cable inside. you can open them by lifting the seat. there are lock that hold the seat with the chassis. beneath the seat is the PCB. beneath pedals cover, is, well, you can see yourself ;)
