Just acquired a Daytona USA Limited Edition cabinet. Asides from the dead monitor issue, I've got an issue with the Force Feedback. It's not entirely necessary as I can't see the game anyways lol. I'd love to throw it into test mode and get a diagnoses from there, but you know....

Here is the deal, I pulled the assembly off the cabinet. All the wires were connected and there was no missing belts. Looks like a functional assembly........if the Driver Board was functioning. I'm not saying the LED segment is always lit, but it doesn't even flash on powerup like what the manual states...........so possibly a dead Driver BD...but this is my first SEGA racing game so I don't have any experience with this.

Right now I need to know the Voltage required for the board to operate, I know there is a possible issue with the CN5 on the I/O boards in some, but right now I'm not going to consider that the issue.

Anyone have experience with this type of stuff?

Daytona or Virtual Racing, either way the Driver BD is exactly the same.

Ok, since the monitor is dead I wanted to give my Scan Converter a try. And what do you know it DOES! But the color quality is horrible, everything is washed out....

Thats going to be alright right now if I can run diagnostics on the Drive BD. So I loaded into the test menu and then chose Drive BD Test. The Handle Vol is FF, which is an error caused by either mis-wiring of the harness to the I/O board or a failing Drive BD? Or is there possibly a bad Pot on the wheel?

I doubled checked CN5 on the I/O board and it was wired correctly, I tried wiring it back to what they supposedly had came off the factory floor like....but still no Handle value besides FF. Not to mention adjusting the dip switches on the Drive BD does not reflect their current status in the Test Menu, so I'd have to say it's some issue in regards to the cabling or board.

Otherwise the wheel will drive the car in game but there is just no feedback.

Anyone here who can help me with that any further?

Bump

Been cleaning some corrosion off some of the parts on this board and came across a cap (C2)with only 1 leg, the other seemed to have been corroded off?? Anyways, I'm going to check Fry's Electronics for a replacement cap (10v 100uf) replace the bad one and give it a try. Looks to be something related to the DC voltage connector, possibly between the ground feed.

Other than that I might have to send it off to be repaired if the SEGA repair guy (www.irepairsega.com) can diagnose the problem...

Still looking for any help with this though?
