Hi again folks. I inherited a couple of of Daytona LE cabinets a month or so ago (talk a little bit about it here: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=91859 ) of which one had a bad CPU board.

I just got my replacement board today and fired it up. The game itself seems OK but the picture is kind of wonky - the colors aren't quite right, bleed a bit and the whole picture is shifted maybe not quite a 1/4 screen width to the right.

Now, I am a total novice when it comes to cabinet repairs but I'm not afraid to learn. I've got a couple questions.

1) Is it possible it's a simple monitor adjustment? I presume the adjustment dials are all on the back of the display so I'd have to take the CRT "cover" off the back of the cabinet to get to them?

2) I did a search for "monitor problems" in this forum and "cap kit" seems to come up a lot. What is that? Capacitors? If so, I assume there is more than 1 "kit" so how would I know which one to get and where would I find such a critter?

3) Lastly, could it be something else entirely? I tried taking some photos but dont have an SD drive here to download them so I'll post them later... hopefully they turned out OK.

Thanks again and I appreciate any help or advice!

Attached are the photos that I took. The red line I put is roughly the edge of the CRT, so in theory the image should be displayed there but it is pushed off to the right.. maybe 1/4 was a bit steep... probably around 1/8 or so.

Once again, I appreciate any ideas. :)

Take a good look at the connector on the monitor and on the game board and see if they look like they've been tampered with. The color bleeding should probably be fixed afterwards. It appears you may be missing the green, or the blue is just overpowering the green and red. Take a look at the connectors first, though, and make sure the green isn't loose or disconnected.

I will certainly do that. I am not near the cabinets now (I have them in the warehouse at work) but I'll certainly take a peek tomorrow.

I tried to take a good look at all the connections as they have been moved a few times and lord knows with the knocking around what could happen - but I never took off the cover near the CRT to examine those.

Folks, I was indeed able to play with the CRT settings both at the tube and in the service area. After a few minutes of playing I have it looking better than its twin "good" cabinet - I think it just got out of adjustment from all the jostling it's had in it's life.

I appreciate the assistance you were able to give. :)

that and as the electronics wear the adjustments go out of range. Glad it was an easy "fix" for ya... those are the best kind!

yeah, I suspect as time goes on it'll probably be inevitable that I won't be able to adjust it enough.. oh well, they will be used pretty minimally in all reality so hopefully that'll be a few years from now still.

Something else will probably break before then! :)
