After almost four months of planning, getting bids, getting stood up on bids, and debating if I should even do it, we broke ground on my 40 X 24 gameroom. We had our first accident too. One of the concrete guys was driving the Bobcat, ran over the water meter, and broke a pipe. Fortunately it was an easy fix and the plumbers were en route to the house to start their work anyway. We were only without water for 2 or 3 hours.

The yard is trashed but it's going to get worse. The things we do for this hobby, right? :)Half of the day was spent draining the "pond" where the above ground pool was and the other half was framing for the slab. Tomorrow the electrician is coming out to run his conduit for the floor outlets and the plumbers will be back to do their thing. Once Monday comes and the inspector approves, we'll be able to pour.

I'm getting some pictures that I'll post when the process is complete. This is exciting!

One thing I always forget to do when restoring a game is take pictures. I suggest you take a lot of photos. It's always great to look back and see how it all came together. Also, let see some pics!!!

I'm excited to see this come together, especially once I saw the words "broke ground"

We definitely need more details on this project!

Yeah, I'm going to photograph the entire process and create some kind of scrapbook. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

An idea just occured to me. Maybe I can get the building permit blown up and like have everyone from the concrete guys to the vinyl siding installers sign it. I could even use a different color pen to differentiate who did what.

Sweet! I remember my build. Was glad when it was done!

Got some pics!!

Today was day two and we're getting closer to pouring the slab. The inspector came out to approve the rough-in on plumbing and the framing is almost done.

that's a hella-big hole you got there. You didn't build this house on any Indian burial grounds did you? Somehow your neighborhood and that hole remind me of a movie I saw once.....

looks like its gonna be fun either way.

We bought the house in June and it had an above ground pool. The hole was what was left when we removed it. It took 3 truck loads of sand and dirt to fill it in and grade the land. My father in law is going to help me build it. I know nothing about construction but he has a Masters in Engineering. We'll frame it and hopefully finish the exterior the last two weeks of December. Hate that it's going to take that long but I've been waiting for this since 2001 so what's another month, right?

It will have a completely open floor plan except for an 8 X 8 workshop in the corner. I'd like more room for the shop but my want list will bring my total games to around 40 and I don't want to run out of space. I'll also have a sitting area to hang out in.

MAN! I'm excited for you!! It took me a year to complete renovation of a 30' x 40' work shop into my arcade, the biggest expense was raising the roof so I had 10" ceilings, instead of 8" and adding the central HVAC, which I'm so glad I did. I did the drawings for an addition to the existing arcade of another 40' x 50' earlier this year. HOWEVER, there was a deal; our master bathroom had to be renovated 1st! Finally the br is done. I hope to breakground in December. There is nothing like having a full scale arcade!!

Thanks! It really is exciting. Sometimes the goal seems so far off, you know?

Wow dude. You're going to have some serious square footage. How many games do you have that requires that kind of space?

Very cool I hope to be doing this same thing this comming year so I'll be watching closely as my addition is planned to be exactly the same size. Congrats!!!!!

WOW! Very cool that you got permission to do this in what appears to be a pretty nice subdivision you're in there. Can't wait to see more photos!
