Dave Foley pleads GUILTY

Jeez, after reading it, he sounds like a few Klovers on here. Just makin' some bucks on the side. Wish I had known him. I could use some Global VR stuff to get some games running again. Those bastards charge retarded amounts for some of their stuff. A video card for $400 on a ten year old game? I'd be undercutting their shit too.

Wow, I had an Ultracade that I picked up at a yard sale in 2010, after I got it home I went searching on how to add games. I found so much drama tied to those machines and unlicensed games and game packs. I saw a ton of message board posts, some even here I think, stating he had done nothing wrong. The software running on those PC's is very secure so it seems he went all out to make sure you couldn't pirate his pirated software. I promptly sold it and got out from under that potential train wreck. I hope this whole mess won't effect the people who own the machines. I guess this isn't much different than running an XXXX in 1 multicade but its crazy how they go so far with these lawsuits over 20+ year old game files.

Some bucks on the side ? The guy has a $3 million dollar house in Los Gatos.

What ten year old game are you referring to ?

He was doing alittle more than just selling used/repaired/remanufactured parts on the side. He was pillaging his own company for personal gain. DO a google search and you will find a busload of drama attached.

If he thought it was legal he wouldn't have set up so many layers of shell companies and gotten unsuspecting friends to act as his marketing agents. Wait, was Dave Foley an undiscovered alias of Dave Adams?????

If you read the story he's not being prosecuted for selling the game files. He's being prosecuted for selling the thumb drive updates with the Ultracade name even though he sold the rights to the Ultracade name to Global VR and had no right to use the name anymore. That's the first charge.

The second charge is acquiring personal loans under false pretenses.

This is a good day. There are very few people I have met since getting into this hobby that I have truly disliked. Foley is at the head of that list. I almost want to take a vacation to go watch the sentencing.

So you met the dick? Dude comes off as a ripe-ass, does he not?

When I saw the title of the thread I thought you were talking about Dave Foley of NewsRadio fame. However, it is a completely different person.

I think I am going to go to the sentencing! I will remote blog and update twitter from the courtroom!

I hope he gets the maximum!

That and if I'm not mistaken he was also selling the systems from the beginning without the rights to most of the games. I know if your system crashes now that you can't get a lot of the games back because they don't have the licenses to most of the big ones even if your system had them to begin with. At that point your only real option is to MAME it or be stuck with 15 games. Sad people do this but he's going to pay for it now.

Why would you get rid of it? All you had to do was reformat the drive with linux/windows and a MAME front end or a 9823094829384-1 board and you had a perfectly good multi-machine.

The OS was not his OS

Is this the reason they cancelled News Radio? I didn't even know the guy collected.

.

The rest of the Kids in the Hall are distraught.
