Dave & Dptwiz part two!

Seriously? Do people really think it is spelled with a "K".

It's all Calvin Klein's fault. People are used to the letters being interchangeable.

See how the "K" dwarfs the "c"? Not good for the "c", for sure.

Ram Controls has some Killer Major Havok:001_ssuprised: parts listed on his website. The new control panel looks so sweet!!

Will my tekken board fit in that?

Also can I get some side measurements so I can order some multi stickers?

Thanks

Srsly? You'd want to waste a Tekken board in a M.H. cab? Get the right cab for that. Like a minty Space War, or something. Plenty of room to drill holes on a huge CP like that!

475.00 on the MH includes both styles of T-molding too.

Dave and I are tweaking the MH at the moment, with some help from Seawolf. We want to make sure it's as exact as possible to the original! I just got all the Hardware for the head unit to test fit too!

What Dave and Brett are doing for the arcade community is a godsend however is this undermining the value of MH in general? I dont know where the price falls in line with the value of a real MH but if it undervalues the existing originals then maybe the price should be a little higher then what it is. Last thing we need is repros hurting value of the originals.

Great job btw on the work!

This is a tough call. However, IMHO I believe that the outcome of reproduction parts can swing either way. In the case of the yoke controller and the MH roller controller, when my repro's hit the market (well, even before they hit), the price of the OEM controllers dropped substantially. So there's a tidbit of info that supports the idea that repros will lower the price of originals.

Then there are full machines.... I think they might be a different beast all together.

What are MH dedicated games going for these days? A few years ago, it was an easy $3K-$4K for one of these machines in overall good working condition. I know they go for much less now. In fact, I think they may have hit the "floor" as far as how much they'll decrease in price for the time being.

Enter the reproduction MH cabinet... The one we're currently offering is as stripped down as you can get, save for the t-molding. The cabinet is bare wood, afterall. At the price point suggested, I think it's about right - fair for buyer and equitable for Brett and myself. Once we start adding more parts to bring it close to being a complete machine, the price will go up. In fact, a full reproduction machine, ready to plug in and play may possibly end up costing as much as a bottom to mid range OEM machine.

This remains to be seen since we don't have a full picture of our price points yet. I think the end result is that the reproduction machines will serve the market by allowing people, who would not otherwise dream of purchasing such a machine, an opportunity to grab one up at a reasonable price. How this will affect the upper scale of collectible games? I really can't say for sure since these new offerings are quite unique. However, I'd like to think that what we're offering outweighs any potential negative impact. As long as the hardcore collectors want everything "original", it occurs to me that there will likely be a market to support the higher priced OEM machines.

I've thought about this on and off for some time now and the bottom line is that Brett and myself are trying to keep the hobby alive by doing what we can while keeping the prices as reasonable as possible. If any of you are suggesting that we raise our prices, please let us know. I'm sure we could accommodate such wishes if you so desire. :)

Dave

Hey Dave,
Honestly, I hope to purchase one of your star wars cabs when they are available. I may only be able to afford the shell, but the full on machine would be supper sweet. As for this major havoc, I haven't played the game enough to be impressed. But the ability to pick up another vector is always nice. Plus, I think that if you and Dptwiz are building and offering cabs out of birch vs. particle board, there will always be a market for those wanting to replace their cabs. My SW CP is all to crap(but it does work). I do have a couple suggestions. Once you get that MH cab hammered out, you and Dptwiz should also manufacture a Firefox cab. You already have the SW yoke, and I hear the game can be emulated in mame now. Also, any chance you can talk to the guys at Zektor on remaking the Vector Generator boards. Then, the Major Havok could be run in Vector mame. They could make them, you could sell them. And you might just have the funds to entice them into manufacuring a batch. Just a thought. Anyways, best of luck on your continued endeavors and let us know when the Star Wars cockpit is ready.

That's already happened. Imaging how much more valuable a cab with good side art and a nice cpo would be worth if there were no repro's available. Right now a DK with good side art would sell for the same price as one with torn side art because it can be replaced.

But since I'm not in this hobby to make money on my games, I'm all for these reproductions. It will be the only way I would possibly own a MH.

Some "rare" games shouldn't be devalued in any way. I was suggesting a higher price point on the cabs to protect the original owners investments. If you want to build a MH then fine, but it will cost you and by the way when your done building, u have as much money in it as if you were to find an original one to buy.

Surely there's some MH's out there that have suffered water damage/general damage over the years, and it's also good for them to be able to start with a mint solid cabinet to do a restoration of thier MH with as well.

Also, this is just the cab, so it's still not a cheap endevour to hunt down all those metal parts/electronics too.

From your side of things. However from Davids side of things a WAY different story.
I'm literally giggling right now. I know there's all the "naysayers" that doubt David will make any of the repro vector stuff happen but let's assume he does come through. Who's this going to effect? Let me tell ya'll ....

All the vector monitor part whorders are going to take it in the pocket book big time. Why would you pay $300 "pulling numbers out of the air" for a K6100 with Tempest burn on the tube when you could pay ~ the same amount of money for one of Davids monitors?
Only a harcore purist will give two shits if the monitors authentic or not.
If I had a bunch of these parts I'd keep a couple spares and be dumping this stuff like mad.
