HI,

I have very little knowledge on videogame repair and found this site while searching for help.
Hoping someone can shed some light on subject! :)

I have a dataeast robocop that does not power up. No lights, no humm, nothing.
I checked all the fuses, and they are all good.
The AC service plug inside the cabinet works fine.

Thanks!
Brian

does the game have an on off switch? If so have you turned it on? Also make sure any service interlock switches are in the on position when you try to power on the game. If one of these is not on the game will appear dead. If you are not familiar with these switches they are generally white with kind of a button in the center (white button/arm). They are in the on position when the button is pressed in and most are also on if you grab the button and pull it outward. They do this for servicing the game and the button/ arm locks when pulled outward. Basically its a 3 position switch. Idea is when you close up the game something like the back door or coin door will depress the switch putting it in the on position. When you pull the door open the switch automatically goes into the off position. If you need to work on the game with the doors open you can pull the switch to the out position to allow the game to be on to service.

Follow the AC wiring... cabinets have switches in the oddest of places!

I've seen Williams cabs with AC switches on the front under the lip of the front panel... Others with switches in various places on top... and more than one with the switch at the top back.

The worst are Atari games with power switches at the lower rear panel of the cabinet.

Beyond that you are looking at troubleshooting a bit further.

Do you have continuity from the AC plug all the way to the AC input on the power supply?

Check for interlock switches on the back and coin doors... if they aren't mounted right they might not be closing all the way. They may also be bad. I've also seen warped doors not closing the switches all the way.

Some interlocks can be pulled out slightly to click into a position which closes their contacts for testing with the cabinet door off.

Thank You! I didn't know you could pull the interlock switches out, and that there were two of them! I saw one on the back door. but after reading both replies, I found another mounted off to the side. both of them needed to be pulled out for service mode.
The machine lit right up after I hit the power switch under the front left side of the cabinet.
THANKYOU again both for the information!

It works like it should, but it has no sound. would it be best to post a separate message for help with that?
