I am attempting to put some cointakers non ghosting LED's in my Data East Royal Rumble and I am having a problem with a good number of the insert LED's staying on when they should not be. Is there anything that you guys know that I can do to fix this problem? As I said I have already upgraded to the non-ghosting LED's, because the first batch of regular LED's were doing the same thing. Has anyone ever had this problem? Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

Thanks for the help

ahhh, shoot how bad is it? I think the non ghost LED's are for newer style pins, like Sterrns. I have cointaker Super brights in all my inserts on my HS and sure I see a bit of ghosting big deal. I dont notice them when I'am playing though. So I dont worry about it, and IMO the " non-ghost " LED's are a waste of money, your experience here reassures me of it! Just play the game and dont let it bother you.

LEDs are not good in RR. I spent half a day taking them out of the one I bought. Just use bulbs. Add a few colored bulbs under some colored plastics for a bit more zing. Not every game is "better" with LEDs.

yea, I found that out the hard way....I put the regular bulbs back in and its good, I do have LED flashers in there for some pop, its good enough.

I spent a great deal of time troubleshooting and taking bulbs out though.

The only ones that I've heard that will work for WWF and other Data East machines is the Noflix from here: http://www.pinballcenter.eu/

I would order 5 or 6 and test though before going all in.

Data East and LED's don't play nice.. Good luck.

I hat to recall how much time it took to remove the mini-pf and get those LEDs out too! What a pain...

The only saving grace was that once in a while the ball would get stuck in the gate under the mini playfield, since I had to take the mini-playfield off I figured I would just shop the whole thing out and was able to fix the gate issue. Now I would feel comfortable eating off the playfield, its that clean....Def an underrated pin, its a lot of fun.

Getting that mini PF off was a pain in the ass though, but in the end totally worth it.

Is that the top gate, just before the top rollover lanes, where the ball would get stuck? How did you fix that? I get a stuck ball there sometimes. (It seems to hang on the back end of a kicker that sticks out a bit on the top lane there.)

So here is the deal on what is going on back there. The kicker thing there is not much you can do about that. I still get a ball stuck back there on that kicker from time to time, but since I shopped it not nearly as much as I used to. I waxed the hell out of the back area to make it as fast as possible, and it has helped. I was thinking about removing the mylar but decided to keep it there until next time since I am still sorta new at this stuff.

I was having a bigger problem then that back there though. What would happen is the ball would actually get stuck in the back gate when the shot was weak. What ended up being the problem was there are some wires that feed some lights to the top PF that the wire gate would get hung up on. Those wires are right on top of that gate. I ended up snipping some of the excess wire off the end of wire gate so it would not get hung up on the electrical wires. There is no place to pinch or tuck the electrical wires back there but I did the best I could and I have not had a problem since I did that. I think it was just poor design as far as where they decided to put stuff, all these minor problems could have easily been detected/fixed with minimal QC...
