Data East Magnet Board Repair Last Action Hero Guns n Roses

Hi there!! Does your Data East Last Action or your Guns and Roses pinball machine keep blowing the fuses for your magnets? I have the tools and parts to repair most of the problems related to this. If you send me your board I will repair it and send it back to you.The magnet board is under the playfield and held on with four 1/4" screws and two plugs. Very easy to remove and reinstall.PLEASE be very careful lifting and supporting the playfield!! I charge 25.00 to repair with parts (see below) and return shipping included. The price includes the update to stop having the magnets go on and off during normal game play ( when they shouldn't be activated) Price does not include the mosfet drivers,If you board requires them,They are 5.00 each installed. Please email with any ?'s. Thanks and enjoy!!

I just supplied a huge writeup the other day detailing the "how to fix" this board amongst other common issues with LAH. The only reason I bring this up is if the auxillary driver board blows fuses you will be miles ahead to just replace all 3 mosfets whether the fuse is blown or not. Not to mention the aftermarket ones don't have the heat dissapation plates which can be ordered from GPE. Of course adding the "ancient chinese secret fix" is the real fix to this atrocity. Which btw I have reported to Stern so if anyone calls them they know how to fix it because without it they sent me on a wild goose chase and claimed they had no idea that was an "issue". You'll also be ahead advising the end customer to disconnect the uxillary driver board, replace fuse F9 (and F5? if blown) and manually invoke the ripper switch a good 12+ times. The reason why is because if you fix that board and that fuse blows you could get blamed for board failure when in reality it has nothing to do with your board fix but possibly the fuse holders on F9 could be faulty not to mention the molex header could need reflowed (common issue). After all when F9 goes down you also lose magnets and ripper coil functionality ;)

If you're going to rebuild them I would personally change your price to reflect all new MOSFETS to ensure long flawless performance of this board.

Tony at Great Lakes Modular sells a redesigned DE magnet board, complete, for $55.

He doesn't have it on his website yet; email him and he'll send you the info.

I actually got this magnet controller board from Great Lakes Modular and it's been working like a charm for a few months, until recently the fuse started blowing again. I appreciate the advise from Deadly of checking the fuse holder and Ripper coil etc, I'll check into those things since I highly doubt it's a problem with the magnet controller board anymore.

Any idea if the magnets can be worn out or just drawing too much juice?

*Edit: I've gone back to pulling the fuse out for the middle magnet under the playfield and using just 2 magnets. This works fine and doesn't blow fuse F9 anymore but I'm curious as to why all 3 magnets worked fine for a few months after replacing the board (and lots of use) and now they blow the fuse F9 like they used to after just a minute or so of magnets being on. Any input is appreciated. I tested the Ripper coil with the magnet board unplugged and it worked great after 50 activations so I can pretty much rule out the ripper coil.
