Having some sound issues with a LW3. Sounds were working. I get the start up sound of "Back in Action" but thats it.

Voltages at the sound board are correct. All roms were verified. Replaced the 68B09 chip with no change either.

Have you checked the speakers? check the speaker in the cabinet also could be a bad connection somewere

I can repeatedly power the machine up and hear "back in action" so I wouldnt think it would be the speakers.

Every once in awhile I will hear some of the attract music but it seems to go away after so long. And once its gone it doesnt come back until I leave it off for awhile. I have reseated all cables.

There is some transistors mounted to heatsinks on the sound board. Any chance it could be one of those? I dont see much info on sound issues. As I seem to be getting some.

Sorry, I misunderstood your comment about the sound on power up otherwise I wouldn't have asked about the data cables.

The three audio amplifiers are attached to the heatsinks (left, right, and cabinet). The cabinet sound was out on my DE SW and I traced it back to the amp for that channel, replaced it, and all was good. Since you are hearing sound on power up, you'd think the amps would be okay. And if you look at the schematics, once you get to the amplifiers, everything is pretty straightforward from them to the speaker outputs. So I'd guess the problem is upstream somewhere since you are getting no or intermittent sound from all channels. If it was just one or two channels that were acting weird, I'd suspect the amps or something around them being flaky. I know I'm not helping much, I'm just thinking out loud to try and get some ideas.
