I have an odd problem. I recently acquired a Time Machine pin. Display 2 was entirely out, and the 6th digit of Display 1 was partially out (a few segments flicker now and then. It came on once after being powered on for a couple of hours, but hasn't worked since).

The seller gave me another display board; he was unsure of the status. I connected it, and Display 1 was completely out, but the others were good. They were also in better cosmetic condition, so I opted to use the newer board.

I removed the one-digit-missing Display 1 from the older board and installed it on the newer board in the Display 1 position. Weirdest thing! Digit 6 is now working, but digit 2 is out!

I checked the solder connections; everything looks good. I don't know anything about these displays. My best guess is I somehow damaged the display when I removed and reinstalled it, breaking digit 2, or there's a problem on the display board preventing digit 2 from working.

I'd like to think it's the latter. If that's the case, where do I start looking. What part, or parts would present with digit 2 not working?

Thanks!

I'd suspect U11 on the display board (UDN6118), especially if the 2nd digit works fine on player 4. These chips aren't too hard to find, but you could always scrounge one from the original driver board if you don't have plans to try and get it fully working at some point.

If you choose to pull one from the original board, you'll want to consider the original issues with that board to try and avoid any that may have been causing it to act up.

Good luck!

Thank you. I may check that out. To be honest, I broke down and ordered a RottenDog display. I'll most likely put these up for sale, although I may try to get one working, first.
