Darthi8nt: now THIS guy knows how to take care of your pcb.
Darthi8nt, aka Chris, has never failed to impress me with his repair skills.
He's done several board repairs for me, and all I can say is his work is top notch.
My first repair for him was a pretty complicated 3 board set of Space Firebird. Several soldered chips needed to be replaced, and he went the extra mile and installed sockets in each place. He kept me in the loop every step of the way, and even shot update videos for me.
His rates are EXTREMELY reasonable. He probably doesn't charge enough for his work, it really is top notch. For a guy who has a family and 'life' responsibilities, I've never felt like I was being a burden to him while he was working on one of my boards. He's always willing to take my calls and update me. Not to mention he's got some funny ass stories to tell
My latest repair to him was an 'unannounced' shipment I sent him without notice. It was a 4 board DK set that I just didn't have the energy to tackle. He took it in stride, had me going in 3 days flat. He even agreed to send the repaired boards directly to the owner.
He always takes my calls, gives me heaps of repair advice over the phone, points me towards better tools and equipment, and even threw me a few spare parts off his bench to let me work on a few of my own boards.
Not to mention he has taken on a pcb repro project for me in trying to convert a Space Firebird to Space Demon by reverse engineering the sound board. He's spent a ton of time on this project, and hasn't yet charged me a dime for it. I didn't ask for all the work, he just took it on because it was interesting to him. So generous with his time.
I'm a cheap bastard who likes to fix things himself, but I wouldn't hesitate in the least to send a board to Chris if I got stuck on it. It's money well spent, that's for sure.
For Pac-Man & Nintendo boards, this guy is THE MAN. Don't hesitate to PM him for your repairs. You won't be sorry. I've dealt with very good and very poor repair folks on this forum, and Chris is up there with the best.
