Dartboard - Medalist Spectrum Avanti Elite

Hello,

just picked up one of these today:

Apparently the power supply is bad. I have a few ATX power supplies lying around so that shouldn't be a big deal, assuming it is the power supply.

The game comes with no manual. From what I have read, in order to update the software I need to get a registration number from a vendor. Since this is for my home and I am not the original owner, how the heck does one do that? Do i just call my local BMI and ask them for a registration number?

I have emailed Medalist themselves but they have yet to reply.

I did find what I think is the latest software

and grabbed the manual, but it's for a similar, but newer, model.

In general, Medalist dart machines are sold through the usual coin machine distributors to dart route operators. I do not know what Medalist's policy is for home use machine owners. If you are not a route operator or part of their dart leagues, they may not respond to an email. You'll likely need to telephone them.

That site is Medalist Thailand. I'm looking for the latest Elite software as well. I talked to Medalist last year and was told a software upgrade was in the works and would be given out free. I have since emailed my contact at Medalist with no reply.

Please keep us posted with your attempts to upgrade. I like the Elite s/w but Pirates Plunder, Thin Ice and Magic Multiplier look like great additions!

nope, I grabbed the code and manuals from that site already. The video shows you how to upgrade, but you still need a login to the website.

I'm guessing I will have to call their corporate offices in Washington...

Hello all, sorry for me english i am spanish.. I have a Spectrum avanti elite dartboard and i speak with my local distributor for update my machine, he said not support for home.

I send email to medalist usa, hk, thailand but not received response.

My distributor only said i search in google and version 5.66 and previous not need code for update but not found version. only see ultimate version in medalistvision.com but impossible code for update.

What version have you?
My version installed in hard disk in my machine is 4.29 ( not have in usb )
i.o board is 5.4

I have version 5.83.1AL on my hard drive. Last year I was told by Medalist this is the latest software. Obviously, Medalist Thailand has a newer version. I will contact Medalist USA to find out how we can upgrade.

you update you machine via usb??? not need code for update when you update???

If you have update in usb for update is possible upload to megaupload or similar server??

In www.medalistvision.com only for etec,,, i unknow if possible upgrade avanti elite with this software?

Yes, I have a Spectrum Avanti Elite. It had 5.83.1AL software when I bought it, I did not upgrade it. I do not have the upgrade file sorry.

well I got it up and running, sort of. Turns on, loads the games, goes into attract mode, coins up, but when I try to select a game it doesn't do anything. buttons work, but pressing the game select button just switches the screen from upsell screens to the attract mode that shows the credits and games available. In diagnostics the buttons register as working, but if I go into segment testing within the diagnostics screen, as soon as I press a segment it kicks out of diagnostics and goes into attract mode. Same thing if I do an audio test. All other tests are fine. I'm thinking it's the IO board now, but don't really know.

Anyone have any ideas?

Also, the game only loads when I select OS L from L. when booting up I am given 4 options to boot from on the hard drive.
OS V from V
OS L from V
OS V from L
OS L from L

V on V and L on V just crash at boot up.

V on L boots up, starts, then shuts down.

L on L seems to work correctly expect for starting a game.

Coin mechs coin up, as does the bill changer.


Anyone know if I am just doing something wrong?

The IO board has a dip switch with 10 settings but I can't find any info on what it does. I tried booting up with each setting turned off or on and didn't get any farther than I already have.

It's so frustrating to be so close to having this working and just not being able to get that last 1%...

If you problem with play, i dont understand you said i do not know english.

Have if this is what you said:

the machine starts and you can navigate the menus but when you select the game and hit the play button returns to the same screen or main menu. Right?

you've changed some file on the hard disk of the machine? It is to know where the fault is faster.

Thanks for the photo, that confirms my dip switches are set correctly. I haven't changed anything on the harddrive yet. When the game boots up I am presented with 4 choices. seems like there are 2 partitions each with 2 versions of teh software. Only one of those choices works for me (L on L )

I am going to call Medalist on Monday. If I can get through to their tech supposrt I will see about updated software and let you know.

I took a few pictures, I think this will explain the issue.

I have replaced the motherboard, CPU, and RAM. When I first turned on the machine it defaulted to "mainboard V" and then crashed. So we tried the other options and only "L on mainboard L" seemed to work except for the whole game select issue.

Hello my friend... you have ne mainboard i same model previous mainboard ? really


You should connect hard disk in correct ide connector in to mainboard.

you mainboard have various ide connector..

Test change cable in to connector mainboard.. because problem in screen is not found hard disk (hde2).

if mainboard is same and ram is same. the problem is ide connector.

Hello,

My new mainboard in not the same model number as previous. They do not make the old board anymore. The new mainboard has only 1ide connector. The ide cable must be Good because I can boot the game up into attract mode. It just won't let me select any games to play.

Just got off the phone with Medalist.

They claim I need a new hard drive AND a new motherboard. I'm not sure if I believe them though because i can load the game when using L on L-Mainboard. The guy I spoke with told me the 4 versions ( L on L, V on L, V on V and L on V ) were the same but for different motherboards.

So, why am I able to load one version on the new motherboard but just have issues with the game select button?

They want $400 for a new motherboard and hard drive. Ridiculous!

oh and only way to upgrade is with a new hard drive? You can't load the software yourself unless you are in a league.

I think they were just trying to get me to buy this stuff as a quick fix to a technical problem. Really angry right now.

about update is the bad.. only for league LoL... they said buy new hard disk...
