Darksoft Neo Geo MVS Multi Pre Order Is Now Open To All

Forgot about this and looks like I've missed the boat, is there a second batch in the works?

I'd imagine a second batch will come after the home cart version, but haven't seen any announcements. He would probably be wise to wait for at least some customer feedback anyways.

Looking forward to reviews once KLOV'ers have a chance to play with these! I know the other SD product has been out for awhile, but this is the one I'm most interested in.

This. I'd be a buyer on round 2 based on feedback. I could see mixing it in with my 4 slot game lineup, using it in the dedicated-game mode, and getting a bunch of mini-marquees depending on what I have set up on it. I like using the original hardware to switch games.

How about now? ;)

I'm probably just missing something obvious, but can someone explain what the biggest difference between using this and the 161-1 is? I see some nice features, but everyone's excitement tells me there is something bigger I'm missing.

One is a pretty good emulation, and one is an add-on to run the games on original hardware. Emulation has inaccuracies, but with this sort of kit you get to play the games exactly as originally presented.

If inaccurate emulation isn't a big deal to you the 161 would be fine. If money is an issue you could get the slightly cheaper NeoSD and get most of the same features (AFAIK, I didn't look into the NeoSD).

Don't you need an MVS mobo for the other multiboards while they load different gamedata depending on the game of choice , how is that emulation ?

Yes you still need an MvS motherboard for the 161 or 138 cards but the technology they operate from is still not a perfect 1-1 hardware like the Darksoft product. Not all games operate perfectly. Many run well though.

My big knock on the 161 card is the menu stinks and is annoying plus it doesn't have all games. I also hated how it kept losing the game difficulty settings due to the nature of how it worked with the mvs internal memory. It also has a ton of hacked games I didn't use. The darksoft product was a no brainer purchase.

I think the 161 is a good value for what it is — certainly better than nothing. It just has a lot of flaws...
