Hi all,

I'm new to the mechanics of an arcade machine and am learning. I just want to ask some possibly extremely stupid or entry-level questions, which would really help point me in the right direction.

Because I'm looking to build a replica of the original Forgotten Worlds cabinet, with the use of Hursit's spinners, I'm considering going down the costly route of using a Darksoft CPS-1 Multi.

A couple of questions:

1) From reading, it appears the Darksoft kit also requires "a working CPS-1 motherboard" and "a compatible C-Board for the kit to function". Where can I locate these two boards, and how much would I be looking at paying for them, noting the Darksoft kit is already quite costly.

2) Further to the FW cab, I'm looking at also building a replica Ghouls N Ghosts cabinet. Because of the limitations related to the FW Control Panel, how hard would it be for me to "remove" the Darksoft kit and insert into a seperate cab? The reason would be due to the different control panel, which has more buttons and thus, would allow me to play the collection of games more easily.

3) Is this extremely difficult to install the kit?

Apologies, I know these are likely to be hardcore layman questions, but I am learning.....slowly.

Thanks for any responses and your time.

1. You need a eorking "A" board, which is the base / bottom board. And a working "c" board which is the smallest of the 3 board set that is inserted onto top corner of middle (B) board. If you ask @Mitsurugi-w he may also have repro "c" boards available and the. You just need to find a working A board. If not, pretty much any working cps 1 board stack can serve as a donor. I remember bitd that some A boards were better candidates (dash version) but I think any A board will work now. I am very confident that you need specific version o C board though so check which ones are compatible before you start buying parts.

2. If you keep the whole system setup as a single unit anc want to move between cabinets it's doable, you'll have to unhook edge connector and possibly additional audio harness and then drop on new cab. Another option you often see in these scenarios is you build one cab and have multiple controls panels only. So you swap control panels to play different games in the same cab. As an example, This is often done with @GadgetFreak system 1 multi in a roadblasters cab, you then remove driving CP and install a @Takeman control panel that has trackballs and joystick to play the rest of the games from that multi in same cab.

3. It is fairly simple to install as long as you take your time and follow instructions.

Hope this helps.
