Hi Guys,

Long time no chat. I'm not sure if this is the correct place to put this, but my friend saved a Dark Planet in 3D cab from an old warehouse. It's in sort of rough shape and sadly the marquee was broken in the rescue. He's not a vid guy, more of a pinball person. He would like to move on from it, but has no idea a fair market value for the cabinet.

Any help would be appreciated. The cab is toast, but everything aside from the marquee are there.

Holy crap. Holy crap. What a find!!

Roughly $5000 working in average shape. A minty one would be worth much more, so probably a significantly less for this one, as it's in warehouse shape, and quite rusty and has visible mold. Plus that marquee isn't gonna be an easy replacement. How is the molded plastic? If broken, that's a massive knock on the value. Can't replace that piece.

I played this one at Galloping Ghost and loved it. Such a freaking cool game. The 3D effect and the molded play field are like nothing else of the time. Where are y'all finding these warehouses full of Grail games???

Save that cabinet too! Probably can just replace some bad bits and it'll be okay. Sadly, I don't think I can afford this one, lol!

Sold my DARK PLANET for $ 8000 around 6 years ago. Wish I kept it.

I am not sure. I'll ask him. We're both bummed about the marquee getting damaged.

Yes, that cabinet should and can be saved. It definitely needs a ton of wood work, but I have seen some really well done restorations on worse cabinets here on KLOV. Too bad about the marquee.

Galloping Ghost has one, maybe they can work up a repro.

Damn... If it went up for $1500... I'd be thinking about road trips to Massachusetts lol. Looks like it'd be a fun restore.

Condition rules.

The parts all seem to be there.

I'd be in the $1000 - $2000 range max, probably towards the lower end due to the wood work required.

This is going to be a heavy track saw / biscuit joiner job given what I saw of the front and side panels. Then a lot of time to get the rust and mold out.

This is a Level 100 Woodworking Paladin level job. Someone like @p1001 could do it, and others.

This game already sold. And no, not to me. I passed. Seller is a stand up guy for sure though.

I am reminded again of my past failures 😭

I wonder if this game has been restored yet. I hope so.

I have a marquee and bezel for this. They have wear but are useable (and if you need them they are original). pm if interested or email [email protected] thanks Mike
