Since attending a Fort Worth pinball party last week, I cannot get both Championship Pub and Cyberball 2072 off my mind.

This is not good.

At the same time, I dismissed Comet as too 'old' to fit with what we have. Taxi, OTOH....

DFW Pinball Club? I ddnt get to make it out there. :(

On the flipside though if you're on the dallas side and wanna play some STTNG I'm pretty happy to share. :)

Hopefully Space Shuttle will get properly leveled sometime this week too lol.

Yep, D/FW pinball club.

I'm a Fort Worth guy, so I don't make it to Dallas all that often, even though I was born-and-raised there. When I left, I vowed to not go back, if at all possible....

I have renewed enthusiasm to get new Rottendog boards for my Whirlwind and Earthshaker. They're fine, other than not functioning, otherwise.

i had never tried cyberball until last month... it's awesome... i had no idea something like that existed

LOL, as if they're that different.

This entire state is a sh--hole. This is the only place I know of where it's perfectly okay to have people that have NO BACKGROUND OR DEGREE OF ANY KIND in Education running school content programs, threatening to re-write history to support their religious beliefs.

Don't even get me started on how we had to fight and fight to get a transfer for our kid to get him OUT of a elementary school where literally there is ONE CLASS in every grade that is for English speakers, all the rest are taught in Spanish. So even though he suffered abuse from classmates he could not be moved to a different classroom because he's not part of the 89.7% hispanic population and they couldn't be removed from the school because it's their "right" to be there...

Even when 1st graders are threatening to bring guns to school. *roll. Eyes.*

Frax, your train left the rails at statement 1.

As a mid-40's native of Dallas, yes, Dallas and Fort Worth are vastly different, even though they are only 40 miles apart.

Dallas = east cost mentality
Fort Worth = a true 'western' mentality

The education system's style, and the utter stupidity in which it engages, is rampant in the south. Texas is a high population state, so it receives all the attention.

Sounds like, based on your statements, you live in the Valley. If so, yeah, it'd be a good idea to leave.

Guns & kids. It's everywhere, dude, just the most recent story was Texas. Give it a couple of weeks.

You want a place which is worse off than Texas when it comes to logic in pretty much all aspects of life? Go to Oregon, specifically the Portland area. At least Texas is predictably wacko.

I lived in TX, Dallas county only, 'till I was 28, then moved with my new, who also had never lived outside Dallas county, wife to the Colorado high country for a few years, Portland, OR, for a few, Vegas for four more, Austin for 8 months, and landed in Fort Worth...for work as well as family.

Will I stay forever? Nope. Going back to Colorado first chance I get, but you'll find there is almost unbelievable stupidity everywhere, you just have to figure out what it is.

Use the lame Texas educational system to teach your kid(s) to read and learn things on their own.

FWIW, my sister was a teacher, degreed in it, and after a few years, she threw up her hands in frustration. I'm glad, honestly, 'cause my niece and nephew will grow up able to actually think, and not merely parrot back 'facts', as presented by someone claiming to be correct.

My comments towards the education system, and a kid threatening to bring a gun to school, were personal experience, not "parroted" shit from the news. I don't even watch or read the news, because so much of it is cherry-picked garbage to generate ratings, not news that any sane person would actually give a crap about.

He has been abused, at school, several times, by other students, while his teachers do nothing. He was stuck in the same class, with the same a-hole kids, for 2 years, without any option to move to a different class because NO OTHER CLASSROOM WAS IN ENGLISH. A kid, IN HIS CLASS, threatened to bring a gun and kill him. This child was given a verbal warning, and that's it.

It's got absolutely zilch to do with the population of Texas, the news, or any other state. It was a personal antecode, not something I pulled out of thin air to use as a tenuous argument to make a point.

Christ.

I don't know where the hell the "valley" is, other than California. And that's about the last place on earth I'd ever choose to live....well...maybe except Florida or New Orleans. I have an aversion to putting my games in the path of a hurricane. :p

Concerning your education system issues - that really stinks. I don't understand in this day and age how that can still go on.

Also, I'm a teacher in the heart of California's valley. But I'm one of the "good guys".

Just going to add only that I don't really want to continue with the drama. I shouldn't have even made that response post, but no point in editing it out since it's quoted. Sorry for hijacking the thread.

No biggie. With the backstory, I understand your rage.

The Valley, in TX, is the Rio Grande valley. The Brownsville area.

Okay. Wouldn't have ever known that in a million years, lol. I've literally been to all four sides of this state from El Paso to Louisiana and Oklahoma to Corpus, but yeah, lol...never been much for south texas. I get down to austin now and then, too many windy roads and trees. ;)

Funny how I made a comment a few months ago here off topic and a couple of you characters flew off the coup to ream me. Saying I should be banned. What I read on this thread is much more harsh than my itty bitty comment, which was moderated/edited out. hmmmmmmmmm....

For this, I think you violators should ban yourselves...heh...

Well, it wasn't OT until I posted. :/

I don't remember saying anyone over ere should be banned. There isnt a point....you can just put them on the ignore list.
