Hello everyone,

I purchased a Dance Maniax 2nd Mix JParadise machine about a year ago, and it has worked perfectly until now. I am getting an error on bootup, and unfortunately my Japanese amounts to a semester about a year ago. If anyone could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.

Error Screen
(!) NOTE 605
RTC-RAM <Insert Hiragana and Katakana here>

Progressing from the screen brings up an error about being unable to start up the RTC. Now I am guessing, from looking around and reading the forums, that the problem may be as simple as replacing the RTC battery. Catch is, I have no idea where the battery is located (if this is the problem).

Thank you in advance for your assistance. I'll be glad to provide any additional information if you like.

Be Well,
Preston J. Stelford

if it helps any, you can look around for help with DDRs running on the System 573 Digital hardware with the same problem.

I don't think anything pertaining to Dance Maniax will be very common.

RTC battery failure is pretty common on Konami's more recent games (and by that, I probably mean between 1997-2003?) so search around for one of those.

if I didn't have a load of other things to take care of I'd crack open my Dance Maniax or DDR Extreme to see if I can find what the RTC is.

in a stray google result I saw something about holding down the Test button while powering on to clear the RTC or something like that?

then once you get the beast running, PM me. I worship Dance Maniax.

the RTC type is M48T58Y-70.

as for the error, i never see one like that. try replace the RTC first then see.

If this is like other, more recent Konami games then you are hosed. They put data in the RTC chip that is only refreshed if you send the game board back for expensive repairs.

It hasn't been cracked yet by anyone.

i can fix that. see my sig, i do 573 games.

Post a picture of the error, I might be able to help with the translation at least.

First of all, thank you for the responses. I'll be able to get pictures of it tomorrow, as I am storing it at a friend's house (I am but a humble apartment dweller, and as you can imagine it isn't apartment friendly).

Mecha: Thank you for the information on the board. I will give it a shot booting it while holding the test button (since the test button got it to run the first time I got the 605 error, it's worth a shot). As for upgrading your machine, you might only need the cartridge, but I don't know if that's the case or where you'd get a cartridge alone.

Mrdion: If it comes to that, I'll be glad to deal with you. Thank you already for supplying the part number.

Channelmagic: Well here's hoping that isn't necessary.

Hindered: I'll be taking my camera with me. On the bright side it appears to have a page in the manual dedicated to note 605, so I'll copy that as well. And it is in the middle, not in the back where fatal errors normally reside.

Even if I can't get her back up and running, I appreciate all the help you guys can give. It's been a good year, and if she truly does have to come apart well it was a good $300.

Yeah. $300. Picked up 8 of them. Called up the buyers i found for the other 7 and they haven't had the problem crop up, so here's hoping!

No, $300 apiece for 8 Dance Maniax machines, ranging from two first mix machines, 5 second mix machines, and 1 JParadise 2nd Mix machine.
