I have a DDR that has been down for months. Not sure who worked on it originally, but I was told it was just a disc drive that was dead. I have tried with numerous CD & DVD drives, but have no luck, as the error I keep getting is "CDR: BAD, HARDWARE ERROR... RESET" and it keeps rebooting. Today I have tried different discs, drives and new PSU's. Any idea what the problem could be or where I could look next.

MAke sure first off that your new dvd drive that you installed has the jumper switched to master and not slave or whatever the other one is. Second thing is after that from what im told is that everytime the thing loads with an error the flash drive will somehow start erasing itself. I have the computer box sitting right next to me getting ready to go back to Konami so they can reload all the information. I cant explain how shit would just get erased but thats what happens based on the info from their tech dept. I think your issue is still the drive.

FYI on the drive--I was told you need a specific drive which I ordered through Betson I believe. If you think you got the right drive check that jumper first though. If your flash card needs to be reloaded you will get a different message like NO file on CD found.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, I fixed one not long ago with that same error by replacing the drive. I also ordered it from Betson...

Thanks for the replies. I just fitted a Sony CDR from a Raw Thrills FNF and the bad CDR error goes, however it just sits on drive checking now. Any ideas? Do I need to clear the error first somehow?

Not sure on that, my only repair experience with this game is the first problem. I am still waiting for my cpu to come back.

You can actually call betson and get a tech to maybe help you. I got one in 2 mins after a phone call.

there is one possibility causing that: the cdrom drive have problem reading the disc. either the disc bad, or the cdrom drive just aged. try replace with another cdrom drive.

Hardware error - 1n

Finally received a working CD-ROM and the game now gets further into its boot before hitting another error. It gets to "Now Loading ....169" then I get HARDWARE ERROR - 1N - FLASH-ROM DEVICE ERROR, PLS CALL ATTENDANT. I guess its the PCMCIA card. Is there any way to verify this? Any way I can get an image to create a new one?? Any ideas... This machine is really being a pain in the ###...

Its a 3rd Mix Ver. Korea 2. On the disc is PN: 0000079817, 887 - KB - A02, and it has V-992945.

The flash card has PN: 0000072117.

Does this help any?

Flash-rom device error.

I've got a fightingmania (aka punchmania) cabinet that's giving me a similar error (27J FLASH-ROM DEVICE ERROR PLEASE CALL ATTENDANT). It's also a system 573 based machine, so am looking to find out any information I can.

Did you ever get this fixed? Even ever find out what needed to be done to fix it, even if you didn't follow through?

I've got the manual, just says to call konami, so I'm pretty sure I'm screwed.
