The Midway cab-mount monitors. Does anyone have one? Does anyone know how they actually connected to the tops of the cabs in the flyer? This has been bugging me for some time. Were they arcade monitors, or do Midway games put out a TV signal? No one ever talks about them.

If you look closely there is a black plate that comes off the back that gets bolted to the back of the cab...

They are arcade monitors and came with a splitter from my recollection. I watched a guy put one on a Dragons Laid BITD at the local Family Fun Center.

No idea but I love that flyer...
Wonder why the dude watching the tron monitor is ducking down to see something taller than he is?
And what the dude is so surprised about by the Satan's Hollow.

Cool. I wonder if there are any originals around, and if anyone actually used one on the cabs in the flyer. I mean I know about the Dragon's Lair thing but Satan's Hollow? WTF do you need an extra monitor on top? Is there really gonna be a crowd forming behind you that can't just look over your god damned shoulder?

The one guy with his hand in his pocket has a look on his face that says "I can't find my testicles!"

my local arcade had these back in the day. I remember Tron, Ms Pac and the owner put one on Dragon's lair as well.

williams sold a monitor attachment I think for MK1 cabs that matched the cabinets look and bolted ontop. I tried to give it away, but no one was interested in it.

One thing I noticed, you can see in that flyer how some games have the monitor with one orientation, and others have it just the opposite (the Ms Pac has the monitor upside down compared to Tron/Satan's Hollow). Anyway, I don't remember seeing these much BITD, except at the local Showbiz Pizza on their Dragon's Lair. Don't know what kind of monitor it was though.

You mean the position of the side air vent. Yeah that is weird.

You would also have to amplify the RGB signal. You can't just split it.

They still do (or recently) did some of this stuff in Japan. But most of that is because they tend to use two cabs for one fighting game (one set of controls on each cab).

Going around the other side and psyching/complaining/hot dogging your opponent is considered rather uncooth.

Then some cabs also have LCD's/Cams where you can see your opponent.

I'm guessing it depends on the game as I've run 2 monitors at once with a 60-in-1... but that is more modern tech for sure.

Why is the person playing Satan's Hollow getting raped? If the purpose of the ad is to show how other people can watch then why put an observer right on the player holding his/her shoulders and mounting them.

I assumed one was in intake (on the bottom right) and the one on the top left vented out.

I'd assume the vents are both on the same end (either on top or bottom, depending on which way the monitor is sitting). I've rigged up some cables to play different PCB's on my Gaplus cab, Gaplus runs one way, and Nibbler runs that same way, but Crazy Kong and my "Pac-Man on Galaxian hardware" bootleg board are opposite. I believe Donkey Kong is also opposite (which would make sense, since Crazy Kong is). Friend of mine has a JAMMA cab he built, and he has to rotate the monitor 180 degrees when he switches between DK and Frogger.

i called the number to order one but it went straight to voice mail??
guess i need to break out the delorean, be right back anybody else want one while im there?
