Dallas SuperAuction starring Uncle Mike and trained bear!!

Yup... mullet guy would always be the one watching the guy(s) on the chair. The guy on the chair usually had is hand on his chin and makes a slight gesture with his finger or a head nod to up the bidding. This kind of thing happens every auction... always has been a part of the dance.
I say next auction everybody start standing on chairs.

I got bid up by a few folks on some things I wanted, but I had a price and stuck to it. I didn't spend much money... a few cents less than $120. I picked up a box of 8 liner boards for parts, a Joust cab with Cadash in it, and a strange Japanese photo booth.

The booth will get parted (It was $1) for the monitor and controls. Maybe I can get something good out of the computer, but the lower part of the cab seems to have been in water. The metal cab will be put on the local CL for one of the metal scrappers to have.

The Joust cab will be a Multi-Williams system when finished and the 8 liner boards will be nothing but a source of chips - EPROMs, CPUs, sound chips, etc.

I too had important things come up, and missed it. I want to shoot myself because in those three videos alone I saw a Ninja Turtles, Xmen, Sunset Riders and Simpsons.

ugh

There were actually multiple Simpsons and TMNT games. Sorry man. I only videoed three row sides and there were three I didn't video of all uprights.

It wasn't a day for Moon Patrols I saw one of them go for about $120. One of the guys that was shill bidding, bid $30 on his own cab and the other bidder dropped out. He said something along the lines of "Damn I'm supposed to be selling the stuff not buying it back." Another guy then told him that he would take it for the $30 so he let him have it for that.

Jamma cabs were going very cheap. It was a buyer's market and stuff was going really cheap. Huge difference from the past two auctions I went to. Almost as good as the auction back in May. There was a whole lot of complaining and frustration from sellers and SA staff.

The Sunset Riders went for under $100 and one of the 4 Player X-men went for $150.

The moon patrol at the end of the third row of cabs was in really nice shape! If someone got it for $120, it was a good buy. I really wanted to stick around for it, but it took 2.5 hours to get through the first two rows and then they started on the pins. I had to bail. Oh well. Hope it got a good home.

It figures, the one I don't bother with has a bunch of decent machines...:( Not that I have a lot in the hobby fund at the moment, but from the video it looked like there were some Williams cabinets that may have been worth saving.

Were there any decent deals on jukeboxes? I'd love to have one in my gameroom.

There was a very clean Sinistar that was there. It was a blast playing it. I suck though and and only got about 22K for my high that day.

Anyone know what the Sinistar went for?

Super auctions is gonna have to do a lot of modifications to how they do things. I think that the combination of shill bidding, raising their auction rates, and driving off the big guys is gonna spell their doom in time for DFW. I wish someone else would step in and start a normal arcade auction for DFW. I was bidding on a video kiddie ride, and found myself bidding against the owner of the ride. (the longhaired shithead with the fake leather frilly jacket that shows up the same time as the smell of drugs in the back of the auction) I bid it up to what I would pay for it, and he shilled once again, so I let him win his own ride. I really wanted that ride too. (Fucker) Anyways, I definately won't be going to the auctions near as much next year. Nor will I be blowing $5000-$8000 on stuff at them either. I only blew like $1200 at this last one.

Description sounds like a guy that I saw a few times in extreme South Texas (the operator I worked for knew his family) - his dad had a route that he took (over as I recall). He had long blond hair and always wore a leather jacket. This was in the late 1980's. Looked like he could have been a member of a 'hair band' and fairly certain drugs were a part of the daily routine. Probably lots of people that fit that description, though. :)

Your description brought that image back from over 20 years ago.

Welcome to the reason I only go to these once in a while. All of that BS was apparent the first one of these I showed up for. I have been going to auctions for more than 30 years and the level of BS and the blatantness of it that SA is allowed to get away with amazes me that any of you would put up with it.

Someone asked if I was going to try selling some of my machines up there this weekend and my reply was that I'd put them on EPay before taking them up there. As I am not one of the "insiders", I would expect that there would be a 25% sellers fee along with the $25 listing fee and that the auctioneer knowing that I was not one of their asskissers would be happy to let them go for the first bid while all their shills took a jack daniels break in the parking lot. So by the time all the fees got assessed, I would owe them money and still have to pay for the gas to haul them up there. No thank you.

Auctioneering is a time honored profession that these guys have managed to reduce to the level of the oldest profession. I just can't feel sorry for the shills who get stuck "buying" machines while trying to drive up the prices. My hat is off to all of you that bid stuff up only to let the shills get stuck with it in the end. Unfortunately, without an honest clearinghouse for used arcade equipment SA is the only game in town.

Which is why I would still like to throw together a swap meet/auction sometime. Unfortunately, I will have no spare time very soon with the twins on the way.......

I live in Fort Worth and one time when I was driving by the Will Rogers Colliseum about 2 years ago I saw on their marquee that an Arcade Auction had happened the day before. Apparently, whoever ran it and Will Rogers saw no need to put this information online in any real fashion. I found it finally by going through the city of fort worth web page and following a lot of hunches to get to a pdf of a calendar that had it mentioned.

Anyway, does anyone know who ran that auction and how it went? Maybe they could put it up again? I would go - as long as I found out about it!

I remember that one... sort of. I stopped in and looked around for about 10 minutes and went on my way. I can't really remember too much about what was there (there wasn't much)... only classic I seem to remember was a Tempest with a bad monitor. There was some beat EM pinballs, some redemption stuff and maybe some 8-liners.
I think you had to put down a small deposit to get a bidders card (or something weird like that). Don't have a clue who actually put on the auction.

The FW/Will Rodgers one is run by Auction Game Sales out of TN. I think they come maybe once or twice a year. I went to one but didn't stay to long.

SA just drags on and on. One guy thought he was bidding on a touch screen but they were bidding on a Point of Sale machine.

The Mullet guys name is David. he's actually pretty cool. He did run a route in AR but lost some of his locations so he started working for SA. Not sure if he still hgas a route or not. I have bought a few pieces from him, had him pick up a game for me, and he brought a game to Little Rock where my dad picked it up and then met with fellow KLOVers to give to them. They were down from IN to pick up a car.

I think I know which long haired guy you were talking about. He had a big plastic cup with a beer can in it. He was telling some story to a guy about driving with that cup on his dash ( I think it had a beer can in it). Cop turns on hsi lights and he picks up the cup and takes a drink and the cop turns his lights off.

It was put on by Auction Game Sales. They only did two or three and it really cut into the number of games at the auctions in Mesquite. From what I understand they made a deal with Superauctions to stay out of this and a few other markets, with the understanding that Superauctions would stay out of certain areas as well. I never went, but they were advertised in Game Room magazine.
