Just wondering what happened to the machines after the VR craze diminished.
Anyone here own any???

I haven't seen any of these machines for a very long time.
I only got to play one of them... Dactyl Nightmare. Only played it once because it was like $10 a shot. My father didn't give me cash for it.

What do these things cost if you were able to find one?

I really want 2 of these sitdown units, but I would settle for one. They played a Mechwarrior type of game. More info can be found here: http://www.arcade-history.com/?n=exorex&page=detail&id=12496

Hard to find, hard to keep running.

I had nothing but trouble between the tracker boards
and the two video stacks inside the visette.

The original manufacturer was "W. Industries"
which was founded by Dr. Jonathan D. Waldern.

The company has been resold so many times and
changed its focus that it's hard to recognize now,
but here is what it has become:

As much as a bitch as it was to run these machines,
I had a great time with them and really enjoyed the
attention they received, even if the bottom line was
nothing more than breaking even.

I remember playing Dactyl Nightmare. That game sucked! There was a VR only arcade at the base of the CN tower in Toronto back in 1994/95. Each game was $5-$10 per play, and they had 5 or so VR stations each with a different game or experience.

The best part of that linked sit-down Mechwarrior game was there were 4 units linked together. Me and 3 other friends would always give it a go. you were lowered onto the playfield in your mech via a platform and you are looking around with your helmet while being lowered. The cool part was looking over at your friends while they were being lowered into the city arena, and then making a bee-line for them and blowing them to smithereens.
