D2K: fun?

I have only played it in MAME and it is extremely difficult. The fun part about it for me is that it's like being a kid and learning a new game again. I'm still debating on whether or not to get the actual kit for my DK.

i have the kit. It's fun but very very hard.

if your not around 100k on dk, you probably wont clear the first level (level not board) But still buy it before you cant anymore

Agreed with everything said here. My son and I battle through the first complete level while the wife and daughter can't even get through the first board(which is why they don't ever play it).

Why would you ever not be able to buy it?

I have the ability to make the kit, since I cracked it to patch it for another KLOV user, but I don't think it's fun enough to bother even making one for myself =-P

Define "average player".

I'm around 200k on DK and I get through level 1 and about 3 boards on level 2 of D2K, Haven't really pushed it real hard yet.
I think it's fun and a neat interpretation of how the sequel could have been done.
Hard...yes....fun still though....and not that expensive.

Yeah , its not made by nintendo or an actual classic game , its a hack someone made . I'm not interested .

Dokert's brought his to the NW show the last two years, so it'll probably be there again this year. I played it two years ago and maybe got to the 2nd board... I lost interest but I'm not a big DK fan to begin with.

I agree with this the most. I also dont mind that it's not authentic. It's great to have and own! I usually lean to the old school/purist thinking for most games, but this is a cool hack!

I have it but have only played it a couple of times. I prefer to spend the time I have playing DK instead. I don't think I have made it past the first board yet. Maybe someday, but it definitely doesn't seem to have the same draw that DK does for me. I was hooked the first time I played DK, and still am after almost 30 years.

So far, I've enjoyed it, though I haven't made it past the incinerator. I prefer plain DK, but 2 has a good DK "feel" to it. I think I prefer it to Jr.
