I am starting to get the pieces together to do a dedicated cab for these two great Capcom games. I've seen the "stock" cabs and I think I'm going to head for a more custom look. I've been sourcing artwork to try and vector trace. Does anybody know where the original "anime" style drawings came from? An artist, a company, anything that I can get my hands on and get a scan out of? I have to think that there may have been some prints or books, or a comic strip or something based on the online images that I've seen. I know that Udon has put out several books showcasing their art with Capcom, just wondering if there was anything similar with these two games. Any info at all concerning these two games would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Some examples:

D&D art

For art you can google the old Dungeons & Dragons cartoon which was rereleased on dvd this last year. One of my projects is also to customize a D&D cab for my boards but I'm looking more at 1st ed players handbook cover. When you say the old animae D&D are you looking for anything in particular? I still have all my stuff which goes back to chainmail & Blackmoore but I'd be more than happy to scan anything you need from 1st or 2nd ed D&D or AD&D.

None of the art you posted there came out of TSR asides the logo (I'm pretty sure).
Odd because they had a house art department with the likes of Brom, Tony Diterlizzi, Jeff Easley, and many others at the time...

Some of the brochure art and cab art was done by Jeff Easley and Paul Jacques though. My buddy owns the prelim art for the Mystara machine that Easley did.

If you want an anime looking machine I dunno where you will find those pieces you posted but if you want a more "Dungeons and Dragons" looking machine I own tons of original art and have tons of scans-

I actually have the older box set of the D&D cartoon and I could take some stills. It was one of my old Saturday morning favorites back when I was younger.

As for the OP: Nice project! I suggest duping a 4P Konami cab for it...

Also I'm not sure how 3P and 4P are wired in these games which is my I'm hunting a cab for them...

I also have some 2nd Edition D&D stuff that I could pull art off of. I've got a toon of images and ideas in my head right now, but I'm thinking that I want to have the art for the cab be more in the style of the flyers and the game itself rather than D&D stuff. That is except that I know I want to do the "TSR" logo and a dragon is going to have to make an appearance somewhere on the cab. I have seen some people reproduce some of the Udon art when they are building Marvel vs Capcom or Street Fighter cabs and control panels. I think since this is not a restoration at all that I am going to head in that direction if I can. Thanks for the info, and feel free to post up art that you think would be particularly cool. I am always appreciative of different ideas and opinions. Sometimes you start a project one way and end up going with something completely different.

D&D art

If youre doing a dragon I highly recommend Larry Elmore's stuff. He's best known for Dragonlace book covers, all the D&D box covers starting with red box basic, and Dragon Magazine covers. His kickstarter art book collection just funded at the end of last month. Please take pics of your cab! Now that I'm moving some place with space for a work area I'll be doing the same.

A little more interweb searching attributes the flyer and some game art to Kinu Nishimura Anyone have a copy of Capcom Design Works? It looks like it has the art that I posted up earlier. Hefty price tag but I think it may be worth it for all of the great stuff it seems to contain.

you mean this?

Does the Capcom Illustrations book contain any work from the D&D games?

What does the dedicated cabinet look like? I swear the one at my arcade was like two candy cabs connected and put on a pedestal so you could play standing up. I want to say the profile was very similar to that of the silver corner Neo-Geo candy cab.

This is the one they used to have in Nolan River Mall in Cleburne, TX when I was a kid. I never got to play a dedicated Shadow Over Mystara. I just remember being blown away by the idea of playing a real D&D arcade game.
