First I should start off by saying it's not mine, but if you are interested I will put you in contact with the owner. I found a guy with a Williams Cyclone for sale. The playfield looks really good except up at the top it has some wear. The cabinet artwork is in really good shape as well. Player 2 score display is out for sure, and I am pretty sure it needs an MPU as the test and diagnostics buttons are not working, so I can't get it out of audit mode to see any other issues with it. The guy is looking for $1000 for it, but I am thinking he will deal a little bit. If anybody is interested shoot me a PM and I will get you in contact with him.

Not nessarily. I have a pair of Cyclones in the garage Im working on for a local op. Diagnostic buttons dont work on one of them. I plugged in a door from another machine and I got diagnostics:confused:. Put the old door back on, repin the connector, still nothing. Todays job, pulling the button set from a parts door and replacing that.
BTW, turn it on, then when it loads turn it off and on again quickly to load into gameplay

Well maybe there is hope for this one yet then. I have no idea really what it is, just went there expecting to see a working machine and didn't have a multimeter with me or anything. I searched RGP and it seemed like most people that had the issue had acid damage on the MPU. Just learned about cycling it on and off over the weekend as well while I was searching about this problem. I would pick this one up myself, but I don't have the extra cash right now, so just hoping to pass it along to somebody else and get me soom good karma.

Ouch!... the player two score is out?? IIRC that display is all one unit so that's a $200 fix right there. Jay, why don't you do some haggling and pick that sucker up!!

I took a look at this machine last night. There is definitely acid corrosion on the board from a leaking battery. I'm sure that has something to do with why it won't play. Playfield is ok, as said before there is some wear at the top above the 3 rollovers, and a few spots flaking here and there. Some of the mylar is bubbling up. The player 2 display is out, and the player 1 has some bad segments. All of the ramps look good. The cabinet looks great. I made a decent offer but he seemed pretty stuck on that $1000 price. IMO not worth it for something you can't play to even test out. He says he had an offer from a company in St. Louis to buy it for $1200 + shipping before it quit working. They told him they would turn around and list it for $2600, so that's what he thinks it's really worth.

I'm not trying to knock the guy, it's a pretty decent looking pin. With a little TLC it would be a great addition to any collection. I just think his opinion of it's value is a little high.

I would say the seller is full of shit. If he had an offer of $1200 plus shipping, why is he looking to sell it for $1K? Not a chance the game is worth the price he is asking (at least to a knowledgeable collector) in the condition you described. Non-working, bad displays, acid damage on boards, playfield issues....$500 would be a generous offer.

He actually did have an offer for $1100 from Alky on here, but the offer was only good if the machine was working, so I went and checked it out and when it wasn't working I gave Alky the thumbs down. He is very stuck on his price because somewhere along the way he learned Alky was selling it for the big bucks. He basically told me if it needs $400 in parts then he is still giving a good deal at $1000 in his mind. I was really hoping after I told him it needed that much work he would say ok then give me $500 for it, but nope it didn't happen, he didn't even lower his price $100 for me or anything! I just thought I would throw it out there in case somebody has been looking for a Cyclone and wanted to at least pick one up for about half of what bostonpinball says they have been going for lately.

What did you end up offering for it Josh?

Perhaps he should just fix it then sell it, he wont get his asking price on here.

Nice machine but not for 1000 for what it needs.

That's probably what he is going to have to end up doing, and then his asking price will be $2600 and he still will sit on it for a long time.

Looks like it'll be a "keeper" for him. Nobody's gonna slap a grand on a non-working Cyclone. Like most people like him they will get a reality check when nobody wants it.

Yeah, I like how with situations like this that the seller has a "buyer" that will give him a shitload more, but since you're standing in front of him he'll cut ya a deal for less.

Looks like they will bury him with it! lol

He might as well put it up on CL with all the other way over priced pins...

I am sure we will see it there eventually. I couldn't beleive when I looged onto bostonpinball and saw the average price over the last year has been about $2k! It's a cool pin, but not $2k cool!

in mich he will be lucky to get $500-600 outta it not working...
if it was working i know like 10 people that would pay 1k
but thats working...it could just be battery corrosion but could be driver related and much more...then the old rottendog replacment or fix the old 1...
after that its got more into it than its worth...
there was a $1,500 cyclone i think on flint cl...
i still offered 900$...still wasnt accepted, if its the same 1 the guy doesnt have a clue what he has and what its worth michigan 1200 plus shipping better jump on it pal.
none og the michigan pinheads are spending 1k on a broken machine unless its a funhouse or something ...my take but im on the west side...
im my area i know a few more collectors and they think any pins under 3k are shit...but they are rich...and they wont spend 1k on a broken cyclone lol

nope, actually player 2 is a 7 digit alpha-numeric

Yes it is but not a single unit replacement like an early model pin where you unplug a molex connector and a couple of screws to replace it. Hell of alot more work to fix not to mention the solder replacement is still not that cheap.
