Coming soon for all you Roadshow Owners.. A custom Multiball feature topper I'm working on. Currently it is working just fine but I am play testing it for breakdown issues if any. Topper does not light up until you achieve multiball. The light show is very nice and not blinding like F-14 Tomcat. Once you loose 2 of your 3 multiballs, the light goes out. Topper is professionally designed using industry parts and also and Omni direction LED bulb for low heat and power consumption. The design fits this theme very well. If testing goes well I will be selling a limited number of toppers. Looking at just 5-10 at $150.00 each. The rotating lights, circuit boards, and my time is not cheap so don't ask for a lower price.

I am working on more pics and video to demonstrate the installation and mounting of the topper itself so sit tight on those for now.

Normally I couldn't care less about toppers, but this looks awesome. What's it drive off of? What I mean is, what is it that makes the lights kick on? Is it hooked up to the shaker? A flasher? Only goes off during three ball multiball? I am interested!

EDIT: Also, anyone else think it's funny he's making a custom topper, but hasn't fixed the credit dot? ;)

It ties into the bulldozer motor circuit. I had some issues with that because the bulldozer sends multiple signals during it's multiball cycle but it was the only tie in available for the mode. I placed inside the light assembly a little circuit board with a relay, and a retrigger timer circuit in order to work properly since the bulldozer puts off intermittent signals as it travels up and down. This circuit keeps the lights flashing at a constant during the multiball mode. When the second of 3 balls drains then the dozer goes down sending one final signal to the relay board at which the lights will then go out after a few seconds. The hookup is really quite simple. The way i designed things you will not need to drill any holes or do and soldering. The cable will provide the plug in needed to plug the power into your coin door power board, and then a simple clip of the the 3rd wire to the motor circuit and you are done.

The circuit works great but I have noticed a couple issues. If the game goes into Ball search mode the blade will lift causing the lights to flash momentarily, Not a terrible side effect but it is a side effect. After about 20 plays I was ready to call it a done deal then for some reason after i hit a bridge out shot Ted's blade lifted one time as if to say "wow great shot!" then dropped back down. That triggered the lights momentarily. I really don't know what triggered that shot but I need to figure that one out. I've been playing the crap out of the machine and thats the only time outside multiball that i've seen the lights come on. I've not been able to reproduce that single bridge out shot that raised the blade. If anyone has any idea on that one I'd like to know.

Not to brag but I'm very pleased with the way this turned out. I wanted a topper but I didn't just want a goofy prop sitting on my machine and this design just seemed like the right way to go for this machine. I wanted a topper that felt real and looked as if it was made from factory for this machine. My pin buddies have all agreed that it is by far the best mod they have ever seen for this machine and is one of the best topper mods amongst any machine. I just want to be sure it's solid before I sell any.

Not sure why the heck my last comment double posted.. maybe an admin can clean this up a bit by deleting this post and the last one there.. Thanks.

I hate toppers usually, but I have to say that yours looks like it was designed with the pin and not some haphazard figures that sit on top of a game! Really nice execution. I would really consider getting one for my RS.

I'd so buy one of these, but I haven't been able to find a RS for sale as yet. I'm not sure I ever will at this rate, they don't seem to come up much. :/

EDIT: Also, anyone else think it's funny he's making a custom topper, but hasn't fixed the credit dot? ;)

I just recently installed the L6 latest rom and it's getting the credit dot from a bad chksum on U6. Basically a bad chip burn. I then became involded in this topper project and haven't bothered to reburn a new rom since this isn't a mojor issue. Game still functions 100%. I'm not concerned so there is your reason I haven't fixed it just yet but I will. :)

Update: I fixed it. I put in another L6 rom and it's all good now.
