Ok, I'm just throwing this idea out there. I noticed a couple posts about custom made pinballs, and saw a few on youtube the other day. I would love to modify a game to my own theme. I understand that it would be a HUGE project, but can it reasonably be done?
I'm thinking about finding a beat up Williams System 11 for this. Alpha Numeric displays, no DMD. I believe I could modify the artwork/plastics/etc. one way or another. But what about the electronic side? My plan would be to use the same rules, layout and gameplay of the machine, but modify the music and speech calls to fit my theme. Also, the messages that display for the different shots would need to be changed. Is that at all possible? Is there a way to modify a pins sound/display ROMs?
The electronic side of things is the roadblock I anticipate needing to get around, and I'm interested in how the ROMs could be modified. I would be building this table first in VP/PinMAME as a "rough draft."
