Don't know if this is the correct place to place this thread, but it seems about the best fit.
I've been using MaLa front end for quite some time now, LOVE IT.
I actually do custom layouts for people starting @ $25. I also make tons of layouts available for free on the MaLa site.
Should anyone be looking for something custom by all means email me and we can bounce around some ideas.
Thought I'd share some new examples.

The Tatio themed layout (and varients) is for KLOV memeber Silver Eagle and his new project.

No doubt Hyperspin is the best looking frontend I've ever seen.
I'm told it's quite a process to set it up.
I one time was in the process of "getting" HS and the "obtaining" process stalled @ %99.
It would not move. The thread said to repair RAR file 11 (of 3). I tried that and it did not work. I was never able to resume the process of getting the complete file(s).
So that was it for me.

MaLa has some great features, it's simple, and the fact that I can make some decent looking layouts really helps. All my cabinets that feature MaLa have custom layouts.

Hyperspins major drawback, for me anyway, is that you can't rotate it to vertical. I wanted to use it in my mame candy cab but its for shmups primarily.

Playing around with MaLa now and I like it so far.

Nice layouts btw.

I liked Maximus Arcade. Not sure if it's still around anymore but it was easy to set up. Hyperspin is pretty awesome but apparently it needs a beefy machine to run at full speed. I've used MaLa before too, it wasn't too bad.

MaLa has great support and they are always taking feeback.
I know when I was working with adding some simple animation to layouts Loadman made some improvements to give users more depth.

I get a kick out of it when I see videos on you tube and people have built these awesome machines and use my layouts.

I figure people spend so much money on machines, even myself (who doesn't) I'd say I'm into my machines on average $400. I figure a cool layout for the cost of a marquee is a steal ! I've sold about 20 designs I'd say ?

I thought since KLOV is the Mecca of arcade activity I'd share my stuff should anyone be interested.

Thanks all for looking

Mike! I had no idea you were doing stuff like this. This winter I'll need a new layout of my updated MAME cab build. Perhaps you're up for the task?

@smalltownguy2 ......

FOR SURE ! FOR SURE ! FOR SURE !
Perhaps we could work out a trade of sorts ?
I'd like that Pengo marquee, sadly I had missed that on your list of available items.
I like using this stuff as wall art.
Let me know if interested, perhaps we can work something out.
I usually charge $25 + , depends of the level of work.
(so $25-40 trade value including shipping for example could be an idea ?)

Never have I charged someone more than $40.
I even make custom images for default items, for example when no snap or marquee are found. I've done that for a customer, so when they navigate thru MaLa and no image is found a nice custom image is pulled up.

And to anyone for that matter I'm willing to trade services.
People can PM me or email me at [email protected]

thanks all

In the last 6 months there has been many improvements with creating vertical hyperspin setups, I am actually in the process of doing a cocktail with it.

Hyperspin can be run on an old P4 no problem even with using the onboard video, you just have to turn many of the extra video addons and options. I do agree Mala is more simple to setup and isnt as much as a resource hog.. both systems I think equal each other out with the pros and cons..

Here is a a few videos of vertical hyperspin..

Hyperspin when I first saw it looked like what you would see if a multiple console/game cabinet was released in retail stores. (That's a good thing)
Very polished, smooth, shiny, all the bells and whistles. As I said I've never used it, but based on looks alone it's awesome.

I view my MaLa layouts as an extension of the game. I like to think of them as a "load screen." Something that would see in the game if it were needed. What I like about MaLa is again the ease of use, easy set up, and great support. With my Mario cabinet my layout is Mario themed, with DK JR it's DK JR themed. The colors, the fonts, they all relate to the machine and it's original art.

When I do a design for someone I try to treat the layout in the same way. As I said everyone has been quite happy to date.

I'll post more designs as I pull them off my EXT HDD, any feedback is welcome.

Thank you

Over the weekend I complete about 6 or so new custom MaLa themes.
All designs based on my favorites, Shinobi, several Final Fight desigs, Narc, and Double Dragon. I'll post them for all to see. I'll be selling these layouts should anyone be interested.
MaLa really is an amazing front end.

Thanks for sharing the Tron layout.
I had a hard drive failure and I've lost lots of my stuff.
I'm pleased to say that everyone who has purchased custom work from me has been beyond happy !

I've got a few ore designs I'm working on that I should wrap up tonight.
A custom MaLa layout inspired by the multi Williams board, and another custom PacMan layout.

Both of which feature some animation and look quite good IMHO.

I'll get the images and videos posted shortly.

If anyone has any questions by all means email me, [email protected]

I'm still usually able to wrap these up in about 72 hours.

I'll upload a video of the final Multi-Game Williams shortly.
It came out really well IMHO......the customer is very happy.
These are the samples of the art as it progressed.

In the video you can see that the multi colored Williams logos on the side move top to bottom and bottom to top.

This layout was $30 with the animation and included the PSD.
It took me about 2 days to complete start to finish with all the revisions the customer wanted.

PACMAN sample coming soon !
