Custom black Pac-Man restoration

Nice take. Looks great! Auto enthusiasts would call it a restomod.

You know what - it's another chapter in this machine's life. If someone wants to restore it back to cherry (banana?) in the future, there's another chapter.

I think it looks cool.

I think it might actually look more cool if the cabinet was all gloss black and all of the art was flat black.

The thing is though... He did preserve it... It was a junked (very common) cabinet that was going to the dump. So he grabbed it and preserved it. Yes it does have different artwork that is tastefully done. Would you rather it go in the trash instead of this? Would you say that the folks that used a vinyl wrap that had the normal colors applied is not preserving since Pac-Man should have stenciled artwork?

You kind of act like he gutted it, threw an LCD screen in and a 60-1 and called it restored.

When I restored mine 10 years ago, I couldn't find a stencil set anywhere. There was a certain company that at the time claimed to have secured the right to repo the art as vinyl and it wasn't very well done. Apparently they were preventing anyone from selling any pac man art. I had to create my own in illustrator and then printed it locally. I would love to redo it one day, but I paid an arm and a leg for the vinyl already. I do like what the OP did with his... and it can be redone eventually if he wants to try and sell it for a premium.

His game, he can do what he wants to it. There are so many pac cabs it doesn't really matter. There are still untold numbers rotting away in barns, garages and the like. If you have a beef, keep your comments to yourself if you cant say anything nice at all.

At the end of the day if it looks cool and the owner likes it, then that is all there is to say. too many snobs here.
