My first restoration. The cab had some chunks out of the edges, a k4600 with a lot of burn in and in need of chassis work, and the game didn't work when I got it. I went with a nice G07 with a rebuilt chassis, got the game working, did custom matte black artwork from Joe Szabo at Szabo's Arcade, black t-moldings, and red buttons. NOS CPO, custom marquee, original glass bezel. Sanded and repainted everything. I know "custom" isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I'm really happy with how it came out, particularly for my first restoration. Sorry for the poor lighting...

Murdered Pacman

I don't see this on his site. Is it sticker, or stencil? I'd love to see more. I like that it is not the norm.

I'm not really into custom jobs, but when they are done as tastefully as this is... it's hard not to appreciate it. Great job!

Great job man. I saw your thread on Facebook and you did it the right way (in my opinion). Looks really sick!

Looks sharp, but I wouldn't call it a "restoration." I guess we don't really have a word that means "made it look nice / did cosmetic work."

I was thinking the same thing.

So what was the thought process behind the black art?

Thanks. True, it's not a real restoration by any means. Obviously not true to an original, nor did I do a lot technically. Other than cosmetics and elbow grease, I just replaced the monitor and chassis (capped, flyback, etc), power cord, and a few other little things. The power supply worked fine so I left it alone for now.

It was a good first project for me. Definitely a good learning experience.

I got this beat up cabinet pretty cheap, and honestly, a yellow pac-man cabinet isn't all that appealing to me, and pac-man in general wasn't very high on my list of games to have. So if I was going to put in the effort to save the cabinet I needed to do something different, something that I would really like.

As far as going with the black color - I was thinking of a "mean" or "stealth" or "Darth Vader" kind of look.

I know it's not for everyone, but I'm really happy with it.
