I hate to poke fun, because this is probably a teenager trying to save up some cash for a car or something......but DAMN! That thing is sweet!

Kind of hard to low ball the kid when he doesn't just list a price for that thing. I fail to see the point of this cabinet.

indeed. There is just no 2600 game which beckons me to stand while I play it. I think I'd rather sit on the couch.

It's also one of those flashback atari systems so you are stuck with the games on it. He could of at least got a real 2600 and filled the "cabinet" with games.

no doubt. If he went thru and added white t-molding (tough to tell on pics), then he'd have what, like maybe $75 into this thing? Hope he isn't expecting to get a generic arcade price of $200- $300 for it. I mean who knows? Why don't people just cut the BS and state the price they expect for their shit?

I'd rather have a quasimoto cab and play all the console stuff, not just atari.

It is amazing how you can spend good money on wood and supplies, do a crap load of work and at the end of the day, what you have is worth less than what you spent...

So maybe I'm a neat freak, but why shove a bunch of shit in the bottom/use it for storage, open up the door and take a picture of it? Why???

yup. It's like tai95 said. What the dude should have done was use the storage underneath for cartridges and use an actual atari 2600.

Jeebus Cripes - what a failure from darn near every aspect. Let me try adding some value to this and say, "My Dad and I built this together as a project when I was 10. While it's far from perfect it was great spending time with dear old Dad. But I've grown up and need cash to score some weed."

hahaaha! probably very close to the truth.

Its not that bad, but definitely not arcade standards (like I even need to say that here). Looks like a neat little custom kiosk. Seller must think its gold though "make an offer", "no lowballs". I think youll be seeing that one on CL for awhile.

I would say he'd be lucky to sell this thing for $50. It probably cost more to build it. Why the hell doesn't he just say "Hey I want $100 bucks for this" or something?

You know, I usually just ignore hellcade like items. Because they're EVIL, STRAIGHT FROM THE ABYSS. But I think I'm gonna buck the trend I see here. I'm gonna stand up and say that this is really cool.

I give the idea a 10. Effort gets a 9.5. But execution gets a 7 for the cabinet, a 6.5 for the tv, and a 1 for the Flashback.

Final score: 6.8
Not bad.

I do agree with other posters: worth lots of cash? No, it isn't. But if it were local, I'd at least swing by and kick the tires for the guy. Maybe give him some helpful advice on the sale.

BTW, you can easily mod the Flashback 2 to include a cartridge port. It was designed with that in mind.

My thoughts exactly. I actually like the idea of having an atari arcade machine, and was considering doing this same thing (with a gutted cabinet and an actually atari 2600, though).

Gotta give him credit for making some atari side art for it as well. Most people would have painted it black and called it a day.

Incorrect. I was on the design team for Flashback 2. When we designed the board, we left traces on the PCB for a cartridge port. Anyone with soldering skills (which should be most everyone on KLOV) can add their own cartridge port and use their own carts.
