I've been in the process of redoing my game room and I wanted to add some custom artwork to it. I wanted a sign that was durable and something I could hang on the wall easily. If you go with ink jet sign printing you have to frame it and there a good chance it will crease and possibly fade. I found a guy who can print direct to metal.
The material for the sign itself is .040 aluminum. The material is 3M Control Tack Vinyl (same material used for vehicle wraps) with a protective laminate. The signs where corner cut for nice finish. The machines used to print on the vinyl is a Roland XC540(again same machine used for high resolution vehicle wraps) and the Laminator is a Royal Sovereign Cold Lamination process.
I have enclosed some pics of the signs. Since you can design your own artwork, the sky's the limit and you can go pretty darn big. The Pinball Playfield sign is 32 inches long.
I used Velcro to mount the signs to the wall. Design a Sign is the name of the place and the owners name is Ken, and he's a pleasure doing business with.
